About this deal

The RP-600M II just seemed to take everything that I loved about the first 600M speaker to the next level, with more credible imaging and a bigger soundstage. Not only that, the 600M II resolved a lot better than the first 600, providing added realism to instrumental timbre. In comparison to other bookshelf speakers on the market, it is portable. Lifting, moving, and even cleaning are simple tasks. Overall, it is small and convenient because it is simple to maintain while still being fairly strong. Additionally, the sound quality is unaffected by minor wear and tear. Design Klipsch says the 600M II’s enclosure has been upgraded with heavy furniture-grade materials, and it also seems there has been some enhancement to the internal bracing.

The RP-600’s power output is 100 watts continuous and 400 watts peak. Where are Klipsch Rp 600M speakers made?

Chester Rice and E.W. Kellogg develop the first direct-radiating dynamic loudspeakers, based on principles that are standard-issue in most speakers made for domestic use today (footnote 1). The On-axis Frequency Response (0°) is the universal starting point and in many situations it is a fair representation of the first sound to arrive at a listener’s ears.

Horn loading accomplishes two things. First, a horn's restricted throat mechanically loads the dome (or cone). This restrictive loading creates a region of high pressure that a horn whose flare is of a certain length and rate of expansion can effectively convert to a large, pulsing wavefront at normal atmospheric pressure. This elegant form of tuned acoustic impedance matching not only makes a horn speaker more sensitive to voltage, it reduces the amount of diaphragm excursion required to produce a given sound-pressure level (SPL), thereby linearizing the system and reducing distortion. Within their designated passbands, horns can be incredibly linear and low-distortion—especially at very low and very high SPLs, where conventional direct-radiating speakers compress and distort. Because the world is so full of standmount speakers, it’s easy for interesting new ones to get lost in the crowd. This is down to the fact that most are merely variations on the two-way, ported box theme. So it’s nice when models like this come along that stand out from the budget speaker norm. Yes, it has a tweeter and a mid/bass driver plus a reflex port – but that’s where the similarity stops, at least to almost everything at or near its price. In design terms it’s something of a walk on the wild side, but what else would you expect from US horn loudspeaker legend Klipsch? The grandest perk of being a reviewer is when sniffing through the grass leads me to a high-performance product capable of wide-ranging appeal at a price point that shouldn't scare anyone. In my sniffing, I have encountered a few products of this type, whose success I've applauded because it is so much fun to see legions of happy audiophiles united in their approval of a product so unusual that they may not have considered it had it not been ardently championed in the audiophile press. As part of their Reference Premiere range, the RP-600M II speakers are finished in scratch resistant, premium grade ebony vinyl. Combined with the satin painted baffle and the eye-catching copper woofers, they stand out from the crowd. For a more discrete look, simply push on the magnetically attached speaker grilles.

All measurements are reference to tweeter axis with the grill removed. Frequency resolution is 2.7 Hz. Over 1000 measurement points were used to assure high precision in higher frequencies. They help to provide distortion-free, lifelike audio performances. Compared to the RP-160M, the audio is clearer, more balanced, and more precise. Use the magnetic grille for the speakers if you feel the treble is too bright. For those looking for reasonably priced mid-range speakers, the Klipsch RP-600m is a fantastic choice. It works well in various decor settings and may accommodate an amplifier to enhance its performance. This level of design effort is unusual for a home-theater speaker but is common for speakers intended for higher-end stereo. I initially set up the Klipsch RP-600M speakers directly on top of my subwoofers. But in this location, the speakers were too close to the floor (I’m a tall listener). I tried using tilt bases to angle the tweeters toward the listening area, but the sound remained unimpressive. I finally placed the speakers on top of stands, getting them out of proximity to the large subwoofer cabinets, and THEN the speakers really came alive. The best position in my room turned out to be with the woofers at ear level and the stands somewhat wider apart than with most speakers. However, they are almost comparable in audio quality or equipment requirements. Each has a peak power of 400 watts, a frequency response of 45 Hz to 25 kHz, a 1-inch tweeter, and 6.5-inch woofers. PerformanceThis tech is patented by the company Klipsch, and you may find this technology in other speakers. There are many layers of metal over the cone that led it to be stiff. This is great as it avoids breakup. The mix-up of materials leads to the driver’s regular breakup point to the point that is pretty far from the frequency that it works in. I first noticed this contracted soundstage with Georg Solti and the Vienna Philharmonic playing the prelude to Act 1 of Wagner's Die Walküre (5 LPs, London OSA 1509). I noticed this effect only when I listened for it, and it was more than offset by the RP-600Ms' grand ability to direct my attention toward rhythm and melody. The RP-600Ms slightly emphasized the leading edges of notes, which in turn allowed those notes to do an extraordinary job of emphasizing the beat, diagramming the melody, and propelling Wagner's drama. Think ultimate PRaT. A signature feature on the Reference Premiere series, Cerametallic™ woofers are exceptionally rigid and lightweight for minimal distortion and maximum efficiency. New aluminum shorting rings reduce distortion as well as increased power handling and the new motor structure improve transit response with more control with greater speed and accuracy. If you can pull them 2-3’ from the front wall, they do a reasonable job recreating the space between you and the musicians, but there is a trade-off in tonal balance and bass response. Because they are rear-ported, I left them 26” from the wall and that proved to be a good compromise in my listening space; the RP-600M sounded fuller to my ears pointed straight ahead and 72” apart.
