If your fish pond is close to surrounding foliage, such as trees or bushes, or if you have predatory birds or cats in the area, then installing a pond net is highly recommended. Rigid mesh can be installed on top of your pond to keep debris from entering the water and to make the pond safe for kids.
The instructions for the wind lines might be confusing if you’ve never done something similar, but they work. Definitely use them! The stakes on the skirt alone are never going to hold this thing down in the wind. Fallen leaves are often considered just a visual problem, but not removing them before they have a chance to sink can cause all sorts of issues. As leaves and other organic matter sink to the bottom of your pond, they begin to decompose and contribute to sludge. During the decomposition process bacteria break down the waste and compounds are released into the pond that can harm fish and promote the overgrowth of algae. The hardest part was getting the poles in place *until* I realized the instructions were for a different design — they show a tab with a grommet-like hole for the ends of the poles. This 7x9 tent has a different design, however — a split ring with a small pin attached. If you have this design, just insert the pin at each corner into the end of each pole. They do not require a fly or liner and are completely watertight and will not leak. They resist condensation build up because the shingled construction drives out moist air by vapor pressure. If you plan on using your Dome in snow or windy conditions, read our important Snow and Wind Warnings. The Dome shape has other comfort features. The interior can be divided into “rooms”. The dome has more volume than a flat-sided tent meaning it feels, and is, more spacious. After dismantling, put it in the storage bag without taking up space.
You can attach a shade sail onto trees next to your pond, or use metal poles to secure it in place over the pond.
