About this deal

According to the guidelines, Custoza DOC is obtained from at least 70% of the three symbolic local grapes: Garganega, first mentioned in 1495 by De Crescenzi, Trebbianello (a local biotype of Friulian Tocai, present in Veneto and Friuli as early as the eighteenth century and corresponding to the French Sauvignonasse) and Bianca Fernanda (a local clone of Cortese). So to the north, things like pinot grigio, garganega, which makes Soave, and cortese, that makes Gavi.

CHARACTERISTICS: it presents itself to the eye as a beautiful golden yellow, with greenish reflections. It is fine on the nose, with unmistakable aromas of fruit. It is soft and round on the palate, and the disciplinary allows it from 10 to 45 percent. The bunch is medium, truncated pyramidal, with one or two wings, medium compact.Food pairing? Anything. Really. Both wines have the mettle, depth, breadth and vitality, but also, most importantly, dignified grace, to pair with pretty much anything. I say ‘dignified grace’ because these are not shouty, showy wines that will overshadow delicate dishes. At the same time, they have the gumption to hold their own with shouty, showy food. You could pair these wines across the spectrum, from ceviche to steak. I recently had a meal with the most beautiful roast venison, and I wish I could have tried this wine with it. I’m willing to bet good money it would have outstripped the red wines we had on the table. There are few wines, red and white, I can think of which could be this catholic and generous when it comes to food.

Monte Veronese is a semi-hard cheese made from cow's milk that is traditionally manufactured in the province of Verona, in the Veneto region of northern Italy. Custoza wines' full-bodied or even fortified wines go nicely with it. Sea combinations

Custoza DOC is a very light and approachable wine (Planas, 2020). Straw yellow with occasionally greenish tints characterizes the color. It has a medium body, a balanced flavor, and lingering almond and faintly grassy aromas on the palate. The minimal overall alcohol concentration is 11 degrees, while 12 degrees Celsius is the suggested serving temperature. The Custoza Superiore DOC ORIGIN: Garganega is an ancient vine of Greek origin, passed to Sicily and named Grecanico d’Or. Extremely adaptable to different soils and winemaking techniques, it can generate dry, sweet, still, and sparkling wines. This grape is widespread in Veneto, more than 30 percent of the total number of Veronese vines. In addition to the Custoza area, whose blend contributes from 20 to 40 percent, Garganega is also widespread in the Soave and Gambellare area on the Berici Hills. It gives aromatic wines, pleasant on the palate and nose for the fruity scent. was a complex year, we had to face it with all our commitment and will,” says president Roberta Bricolo. “Despite this, it was a positive year in which knowledge of Custoza wine and the perception of its value grew.

Marica’s cousin Silvia helps visitors experience picnics in the vineyards; blind and vertical wine tastings; cooking classes showcasing local recipes for handmade Tortellini di Valeggio, Amarone Risotto and Sfogliatine from Villafranca (a donut shaped pastry); and organizes events pairing wine with music, art, or yoga for small groups.
