About this deal

I was going to stay way away from all that, even after what happened in church. And maybe even after that, but you know Cupid: He’ll get you when you least expect it.

In walks his new object of affection, Katherine, and Teddy turns to Tilly, desperate for her help with talking to and wooing Katherine...but in Tilly's plight to make Katherine see how perfect Teddy could be for her, unexpected and unwelcome feelings arise between the two of them, and soon enough, Tilly finds herself in the middle of the worst kind of love triangle. For anyone who doesn’t know, I am a big theatre fan. Big. Huge. If I’m not reading then you can probably find me at a show, particularly - and this was SO exciting for me - at some of the ones mentioned in this book! This is a very character/dialogue driven story. Though I’m not an English teen, the tone and the pace of the dialogue did feel accurate to teens, and Brueggemann overall does a great job of capturing that teen feeling. There’s some love drama, some trying to figure out where your future is going, some trying to figure out family drama. It all works together pretty well. Teds, why this setup?” I asked, still wrestling with Rachmaninoff, who was trying to full-body launch himself off my lap. At times, however, the story did feel a bit repetitive to me. I think that’s due in part to the miscommunication trope, which isn’t my favorite in rom-coms. Just talk to each other already! Especially when it came to Teddy and Tilly. I know grief partly factored into it, I just wish they had been able to work things out sooner.I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and Wibke Brueggmann is certainly earning her new spot on my 'must read everything she ever publishes' list! We’d been neighbors all our lives; our parents are—well, were—literally BFFs, and Teddy and I were born only four months apart. And even though our mothers insist this was merely a coincidence rather than the result of meticulous reproductive planning, we knew the truth. I’m also fueled by testosterone,” Teddy said, and flexed his biceps as if they had undergone a gigantic transformation since he’d turned sixteen. “Why are you laughing, Matilda?” However, I really didn’t like the miscommunication. It is one of my many pet peeves within books… and so much drama could have been avoided if there was just some communication. There were some moments where I wanted to go into the book itself and shake some sense into the characters. But Katherine is off-limits. The only thing more important than Tilly’s feelings for someone she just met is not hurting Teddy, whose heart has been broken in the past.

Tilly has been roped into a scheme by her best friend, Teddy, to help him land the girl he currently has a crush on: Katherine Cooper-Bunting. Thus, Tilly helps Teddy prepare an audition for the local play. Sincer Katherine is an aspiring actor. Too bad Tilly doesn’t consider herself creative. There was so much character development that happened within this book. All the side characters were detailed and really made the experience all the more entertaining. Here’s the story,” he said, and looked at his phone. “It is now sixteen forty-seven. At seventeen hundred hours, Katherine Cooper-Bunting is going to arrive for her last piano lesson before taking a summer break, and we have to find out what she’s doing for said break, so we can accidentally on purpose run into her, so I can ask her out, because I’m fiercely in love with her.” What TIlly also doesn’t bank on is developing feelings for Katherine Cooper-Bunting. And have those feelings reciprocated. To top it all off, Tilly also has to help out as her Grandfather, who has Alzheimers’s, moves into their house. What a joy when an author can write a hilarious book that delivers on both the romantic and comedy aspects! Wibke Brueggemann keeps up the laugh quota from her debut though this one is, well, way more horny, and funnily so. It is also awkward in the best way, giving a flawed, entertaining protagonist. I am 30+ years old but I enjoy teen novels as a form of nostalgia. I was not a drama school kid when i was a teenager, but I had a lot of friends who were. It felt like I was in high school again!

Material from Cupid's Revenge, IV, iii was separately performed as a " droll" during the Interregnum when the theatres were forbidden to stage full-length plays. The droll, The Loyal Citizens, was printed in 1662 and 1672. The play was revived in an adaptation during the Restoration era, as many other Fletcherian works were; Samuel Pepys saw it in a version called Love Despised on 17 August 1668. Every girl likes a musician. Also, it indicates I’m good with my hands, which, you know, is a really good quality. Sexually speaking.”

Tour Dates:

Because, seeing me with another woman will make me immediately more desirable. Especially if that woman is clearly appreciating my company, hence why you’re going to LOL.” This cute YA book is about a theatre group who are doing a variety play to raise money for acting. The main character, Tilly (Matilda) joins up with her BFF, Teddy (Theodore) who is only joining up because he knows the girl, Katherine Cooper-Bunting is auditioning and begs Tilly to come along and help him get the girl. Why me?” he asked, and then looked up. “What if there’s literally only that one person out there for us? And what if it was Grace? I’m too young to know I’m going to die alone.”

Everything used to be on paper before the internet. Bills, bank statements—you wouldn’t remember,” Dad said, and started ripping up A4 sheets and putting them in the recycling bag. The relationships, be them romantic, familial or platonic, were the real highlight of Cupid's Revenge, and it showed so much throughout the story just how important these connections are, especially during the hardest moments. Between the deep seeded feelings Tilly has found for Katherine, her love for her best friend, her family issues and the production of the play Cupid's Revenge, Tilly's life has been sent into one hell of a tailspin, and no one knows where it'll finally slow down. Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Children’s Books for a copy of the ebook. This review is left voluntarily. Thanks to NetGalley and Farrar, Straus, and Giroux for an advanced copy of Cupid’s Revenge by Wibke Brueggemann to review! I am officially into reviewing 2024 books, which feels both weird and exciting. And it looks like there are some great books coming out this January you’ll want to keep your eyes on!The thing is, when you’ve been friends with Theodore Booker forever, you kind of don’t question these things. The whole thing was kind of Teddy’s fault, because if it hadn’t been for his ridiculous plan, I’d never even have known about the existence of Katherine Cooper-Bunting. Because you being fueled by anything apart from Haribo is literally disturbing. Also, you’re wearing a Care Bears T-shirt.” Lastly, I loved all the fanfiction talk. It was so funny when Teddy mentioned about how fanfiction dynamics worked and also his love for Care Bears. Thank you so much to Pridebooktours, paacmillan and Wibke Brueggemann for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
