About this deal

Shadow’s Edge – Choose a melee weapon, on an unmodified 6 deal D3 Mortal wounds instead of a normal wound. Strap this to a D1 weapon otherwise you risk doing less damage. Otherwise its fine. B Mannfred was running wild after a slow start, giving the army a much needed threat that helped score bonus Monster points, give my opponent a headache with his teleport and go for the throat when needed with his ludicrously fast movement. Baneblade Brown is the “other” brown that has been my go-to for wood on the Nighaunt minis in the magazine

As there are quite a few plastic components to this unit, the box is larger than expected, and full to the brim with sprues. Inside you’ll find: I took home the Golden Spoon in a fun day with friends, and was largely impressed by how well the army did. It would be an exaggeration to say that I was going up against highly optimised lists, but I felt worried about my matchup in all three games, because Nighthaunt traditionally don’t have the damage output and had often failed in late second edition to impress me. That said, board control was the name of the game here, and I was able to keep my support pieces alive just long enough to take control of the centre in all three games while Mannfred ran rampant. Painted on 2022-02-15 Issue 71 - Enduring Stormvault (Gryph Hound Statue) Enduring Stormvault (Gryph Hound Statue) With Third Edition out in the wild it’s time to start getting some games in, and Ellarr is so eager that he made the bold decision to trust the British weather for a mini gardenhammer tournament. Find out how his Nighthaunt got on in his report. Tournament Details Lightshard of the Harvest Moon –Pop this once per game. Once you do every unit within 12″ can reroll failed hits. Crazy good with the right timing, but you need to manage the aura around the Guardian of Souls. B+

Warscroll Battalion

I won priority turn two and took the double, continuing my sweeping manoeuvre to completely clear the right hand side of any threats while solidifying my position in the middle. His Mega Boss was having the time of his life killing chain rasps in the middle, but the rest of the army was dying around him as Mannfred, the Harridans and the Spirit Hosts swept through his flanks. Turn 4 Mannfred charged an incidental unit, then in the combat phase teleported onto the left flank to take control of all three points as only a Warchanter was holding it, putting me firmly in the lead as my opponent was running out of units not tied up in combat to deal with Mannfred. The Takeaways The Guardian of Souls is a wizard for Nighthaunt, drawing more Nighthaunt units into combat with the living. So - they cast the sprues and slipped the magazine out without telling anyone. Issue 27 / Stormshire’s Cursebreakers Issue 27 - Stormshire's Cursebreakers These are equipped on Guardian of Souls only. They’re pretty niche and rarely taken but you will likely bring Guardian of Souls in many lists so it’s not entirely without merit.

No Subfactions – In a rather baffling decision, Nighthaunts don’t have subfactions like other books. It was a launch battletome so it’s likely they did not know at the time those would be so important. Numbers –Nighthaunts are a bit of a horde army, you can field large units with your 10 bravery and cheap units. Many of your units have the SUMMONABLE keyword which allows many powers and spells to heal and restore dead models. So what do we know so far about the new Nighthaunt for Age of Sigmar Second Edition? You’ll find a lot of pictures below but the key points are: Hard to recommend as their role in your army isn’t terribly clear. They don’t get the size of Chainrasp Hordes, the rend of Grimghast Reapers or the speed of Hexwraiths. They get to reroll all hits if they charge or were charge but have a mediocre (For Nighthaunts) 6″ movement. You can likely substitute anything with a more specialized role and do better. Bladegheist RevenantsA personal favourite from the Warhammer Fest reveals was the Spirit Torment. A model previewed in the Lightning in a Bottle Malign Portents story. Personally, I think the sight of hordes of chainrasp models look amazing on the battlefield. Especially when they’re swarming an unsuspecting enemy or charging through tight streets between buildings. Slightly changes the wording of Deathless Spirits to cover every model within 12″ of a Hero rather than units wholly within. Mostly useless in a practical sense, both in terms of the ability and actually fielding this in a game like most super battalions. Shroudguard This is a “B sprue” from an “ABB sprue” from Soul Wars, and, it hase DICE! Issue 16 - Sequitors and Castigators
