About this deal

Cavalli’s designs sold all over the world, and the brand’s success helped pave the way for the introduction of a line that targeted younger consumers and RC Menswear to complement the array of day dresses, shoes, lingerie and coats and outerwear that were offered in his popular boutiques. In 2005 Cavalli was asked to help reinvigorate Playboy’s iconic bunny costumes and, in 2006, model Kate Moss starred in his spring/summer ad campaign. A year later, Cavalli created an exclusive collection for H&M and designed costuming for Jennifer Lopez concerts as well as the Spice Girls. Founded by 1920s tennis champion Rene Lacoste, one of the greatest top designer brands of all time emerged from a determination to improve sporting apparel, which, at that time, was largely woven. He is credited with the invention of cotton pique, a sturdy knit fabric that, to this day, is still used in the company’s iconic polo shirts. Over time the Lacoste range has grown to include a strong offering of technical and outerwear apparel with punchy coloration and classic tennis shoes. Since its founding in 1910, Zegna has grown to become one of the biggest global producers of high-quality men’s clothing and accessories. The fashion house has made a name for itself by prioritizing a holistic approach to business, always sourcing nature-friendly raw materials and promoting improvements in wool production worldwide. Zegna is renowned for its basic, smart casual designs that have made it one of the largest designer brands in the world by revenue. With a focus on luxury and sustainability, Zegna continues to redefine what it means to be a successful designer brand in the 21st century. Vincenzo Palmisciano. "Un ritrovamento per Domenico Basile e due per Girolamo Fontanella". Studi secenteschi. LVI (2015): 417–420. Cavalli was born at Crema, then an inland province of the Venetian Republic. He became a singer (boy soprano) at St Mark's Basilica in Venice in 1616, where he had the opportunity to work under the tutorship of Claudio Monteverdi. He became second organist in 1639, first organist in 1665, and in 1668 maestro di cappella. He took the name "Cavalli" from his patron, Venetian nobleman Federico Cavalli. Though he wrote prolifically for the church, he is chiefly remembered for his operas. He began to write for the stage in 1639 ( Le nozze di Teti e di Peleo) soon after the first public opera house opened in Venice, the Teatro San Cassiano. He established so great a reputation that he was summoned to Paris from 1660 (when he revived his opera Xerse) until 1662, producing his Ercole amante. He died in Venice at the age of 73.

After he patented an experimental and revolutionary process that saw him printing on lightweight leather, Cavalli secured commissions from major fashion houses such as Hermès and Pierre Cardin. He explored integrating handmade ornamentation in his designs and found limitless inspiration in the majestic creatures of the jungle. Vincenzo Palmisciano. "Sulla biografia di Giulio Cesare Sorrentino". Studi secenteschi. LXI (2020): 295–298.

Established in 1837, Hermès is one of the oldest and most respected fashion houses in the world. The brand’s commitment to artisanal produce and craftspeople has remained unwavering throughout its history and into the 21st Century. With 52 specialized workshops located in 11 different regions in France, the company’s manufacturing process is a reflection of its dedication to quality and craftsmanship. Hermès initially catered to horse riders by making leather harnesses, but in 1925, the brand launched its menswear range aimed at golfers. Later, Hermès expanded its product lines to include jewelry, watches, and sandals. However, the designers most iconic products are their silk scarves and ties. Since its launch in 1937 and 1949, respectively, these products continue to be produced using the Hermès approach of investing, elevating, and nurturing the craft of the produce. Today, Hermès remains one of the most respected men’s designer brands due to its artisanal products of the highest quality. Ralph Lifshitz’s career at Brooks Brothers served as a springboard for his own designer name, which he founded in 1967. It wasn’t, however, until 1970 when the iconic Polo range was released, promptly becoming a classic and instantly recognizable designer brand worldwide. The Polo logo punctuates polo shirts, t-shirts, cable-knit sweaters, and gilets. Ralph Lauren’s clothing has become synonymous with preppy style, although the Purple Label is a runway-ready collection that caters to a wealthier clientele. Despite this, Ralph Lauren remains a go-to for classic and fairly-priced fashion.

Rosand, Ellen, Opera in Seventeenth-Century Venice. Berkeley: University of California Press, 1991. ISBN 0-520-06808-4 Roberto Cavalli was born in Florence, Tuscany, in 1940 into an already artistically rich family — his mother was a tailor and his grandfather, Giuseppe Rossi, was a member of an Italian art movement called Macchiaioli that shared common ground with Impressionist painters. Cavalli was creative at the onset and focused on textiles at the Florence Academy of Art. He garnered some high-profile attention with bold prints on knitwear. In the early 1970s Cavalli unveiled his first namesake collection in Paris and the Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti in Florence. He then opened his inaugural boutique in France’s Saint-Tropez in 1972. While the designer’s printed denim offerings were deemed unsophisticated by the day’s couturiers — they looked down upon the material — Cavalli’s form-fitting, sensual cuts, innovative patchwork and obvious dedication to impeccable craftsmanship found admirers in the likes of Sophia Loren and Brigitte Bardot.Vespero delle domeniche: Dixit Dominus; Confitebor; Beatus vir; Laudate pueri; In exitu Israel; Laudate Dominum; Credidi; In convertendo; Domine probasti; Beati omnes; De profundis; Memento; Confitebor angelorum; Magnificat, ed. G. Piccioli (Milan, 1960); all ed. F. Bussi (Milan, 1995) Another must-know Italian designer brand is Etro. The company is family-owned and was founded by Gerolamo Etro in 1968. The longevity alone should be a testament to the company’s success, which is also thanks to its ability to evolve with the times. There are statement pieces, staples, classic colors, and tailored garments to paisley prints and unique colors. The brand is celebrated for its paisley designs, making it easy to recognize that the piece is an Etro design. Vespero delle cinque Laudate ad uso della cappella di S Marco: Laudate pueri; Laudate Dominum laudate eum; Lauda anima mea; Laudate Dominum quoniam bonus; Lauda Jerusalem; Magnificat, ed. G. Piccioli (Milan, 1960); all ed. F. Bussi (Milan, 1995) In addition to operas, Cavalli wrote settings of the Magnificat in the grand Venetian polychoral style, settings of the Marian antiphons, other sacred music in a more conservative manner – notably a Requiem Mass in eight parts ( SSAATTBB), probably intended for his own funeral – and some instrumental music. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel reimagined traditionally masculine garments for feminine shapes, and her elegant evening dresses and gowns promoted comfort and grace in women’s wear that had been dominated in the previous century by layers of fabric. French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent introduced innovative and highly coveted dress designs in the 1960s while at the same time challenging sexist stereotypes about which members of society could wear tuxedos. Works by unconventional British designer John Galliano — featured in houses like Givenchy and Dior — redefined limits that dressmakers faced in terms of material, construction and vision during the late 20th century. The discography is extensive and Cavalli has featured in BBC Radio 3's Composer of the Week series. [2] See also [ edit ] As a symbol of British punk and rebellion, Vivienne Westwood remains one of the most iconic top designer brands in modern fashion history. Launching a store in London called SEX, she paved the way for the punk subculture to enter the mainstream. Her pieces include ripped T-shirts, plaid, and sky-high platform heels – which supermodel Naomi Campbell famously wore (and fell) on the runway in 1993. A proud rebel of the industry, her pieces remain political and symbolic statements against conformists and defined an era of defiance against the norm. Cavalli's music was revived in the twentieth century. The Glyndebourne production of La Calisto is an example. [7] More recently, Hipermestra was performed at Glyndebourne in 2017. [8]
