The main body of the book contains decorated alphabets from six different time periods with step-by-step instructions of how to create them. I found the instructions straightforward to follow and I liked the inclusion of examples of historical work from each period. The illustrations are large enough for you to be able to see the details of each letter clearly and the book is printed on good quality paper. Illuminated manuscripts offer some of the best evidence for our understanding of Christian artistic interpretations of the Bible. Through them we can begin to appreciate the value placed on such art.
