The trouser legs too are on the narrow side compared to my other hiking trousers, but they have articulated knees so they are not unduly restrictive. The Keb is a technically advanced trekking trouser which optimizes freedom of movement whilst not compromising on protection and durability. The main idea behind the Vidda Pro is durability. If you find yourself with a pair they’ll be in use for a very long time. These rugged trousers are built to take a beating thanks to their G-1000 construction. They’re reinforced at the knee and behind for extra protection when kneeling or sitting.The trousers are also tough. They are made of Fjallraven’s G-1000 material, a heavy-duty polyester-cotton canvas, and they have a reinforced seat and knees. The knees have openings for knee pads.

You can add as many layers of wax to your garment to make it more and more resistant to the weather. The icing on the cake however is that the wax is easily removed by machine washing! Waterproofing is very good, but as others have said the liner can feel cool against your skin, long johns in cold wet weather would obviously be the answer here. These trousers come in European sizes, but Fjallraven provides a conversion chart. Size 50 is given as equivalent to my normal waist size of 34, and it turned out to be spot on. The Vidda Pro ventilated is an updated version of the classic Vidda pro and has some added features to help combat sweaty legs on long hikes. Namely generous ventilated openings from the knees to hips and a slimmer fit to increase ease of movement. Fjällraven's G-1000® Silent material is a densely woven blend of 65% polyester and 35% cotton, making it windproof and extremely hardwearing. This outer layer is windproof and also water-resistant, thanks to an impregnation of Greenland Wax. The brushed 'Silent' version of this material, as used here for the Brenner Pro Trousers, is ideal for hunters and other groups that need durable, functional garments that are also quiet. Having owned Paramo and Buffalo garments (and still do) I wondered what Fjallraven had to offer, having been impressed by their range over the years. Okay firstly they are not cheap, but then quality very rarely is, but Fjallraven kit does tend to last and stand up to hard work.

So is the Keb the best Fjallraven trouser? If you find yourself wanting a trouser with excellent freedom of movement but still wanting some protection from the elements and your surroundings then we can think of no better! However, if your needs differ then there are other Fjallraven trousers up to the task! Before buying the Fjällräven Barents Pro Trousers

According to Fjallraven the Barents Pro Trousers have a regular waist and regular fit. But this is not how I would describe them. They are low-waisted and slim-fitting. I am not used to wearing slim fit trousers and I found these too tight about the hips and crotch. Hiking in the winter months in Snowdonia and on the South Downs. Made from high-quality beeswax and paraffin, Greenland wax can be applied to any piece of G-1000 clothing or equipment. The main use is to add layers of waterproofness to your garment.

Ask a friend to take your measurements while standing in a straight and relaxed position without shoes. Remember that the tape measure should not be pulled too tight around the body but not be too loose either. There is also a hook to secure your ski boot or hiking boot. A ventilation zip at the side is perfect for releasing heat when you’re making that final push uphill. This means that in the summer your G-1000 trousers can have no wax, making them breathable and lightweight. Then when winter hits you simply add some layers of wax to boost your trousers' weather resistance. The trousers come with a "raw-length." The benefit of this is that the trousers can be tailored to your exact inside leg measurement for a more precise fit. Cut them a little longer for style and to help stop critters entering or a little shorter if you spend a lot of time splashing through water.
