About this deal

I'll have a look round again, I haven't been told the outcome of returning it yet so don't know what i'll be able to get in exchange.

Obviously the natures of the shelter that you choose will largely be dictated by how much gear you're taking and, also, if somebody else is going with you. I suppose what I mean is that the Avid is the biggest brolly system I could find before going all out for a bivvy. The swim I fished last week on the Trent was just big enough to get the Avid on, where as a i would have not been able to fish in it with a bivvy. I like the style of a brolly shelter, but being 6'3" and 18 1/2st a bivvy would suit me better, but I'm not that keen on a bivvy. I'm not one to chop and change my gear, I like to get it right at the start and I look after my stuff. If my Avid had been perfect we wouldn't be having this discussion and I would have carried on. But I'm now in two minds whether to have another brolly system because of the problems I, and lots of other people seem to have had with them. I just thought the Avid would have been better made. That's all. The front panel has another tension bar, and easily zips off. I've only just put the door on in the past 2 trips, preferring the open front in better weather.

These just add extra weight which are often not required throughout the warmer months. This is when you are most likely going to be using your brolly system. Storm sides came soon after, followed by a dedicated overwrap and then the carp angling world changed once more when the pram hood style shelter was developed. The rear of the brolly features a huge zip down window with camo mesh panel. The camo mesh panel can also be zipped down to reveal the dual layer system which also features a zip panel to allow for maximum airflow. If this is the case for you, you’ll want to make sure additional extras are available. There are a few things you can add to your carp brolly system to make it more suitable for colder weather conditions. These include: The best weather for carp fishing, however, may also be conducive to using a brolly system as a mixture of rain, and at times, high temperatures will certainly need you under some cover at points during your session. As to why you should choose a brolly system over other solutions? Well, in comparison to a bivvy it is much lighter whilst giving many of the same benefits. The best brolly system will have several important features. First of all (and it should be obvious) you want your brolly to be waterproof. Features such as taped seams and drainage systems ensure that it stays watertight. Of all the brollies on this guide, it’s probably a cross between the Fox R-Series and the AVID HQ Dual Layer. If you like copious amounts of room then two-man a carp bivvy will be a great choice. They are especially good for session anglers or people who fish abroad on a regular basis. With lots of room, especially with overwraps added, these really are a home away from home! Two-man carp fishing bivvies are also excellent if you take your partner or offspring fishing with you as you have room for all the essentials such as bait and rods. How To Choose Your Carp Bivvy On the EOS, it’s an 8000mm hydrostatic head polyester. This is actually higher rated than budget bivvies of the past. It’s even higher rated than the Trakker Tempest 100T brolly, surprisingly. Firstly, Aqua have added a 9th rib to the brolly, providing a peak in the centre. What this does is heighten your field of view, allowing you to sit up on the bedchair and gain a panoramic view of the water.

It really does come down to personal choice at the end of the day, but there are a few things to consider on top of all that: If you have decided that a brolly system is for you, here are some things you might want to look out for. Setup time LOADS of hide XLs will come on the second hand market soon when the tarts want the camo model, thats my suggestion. Great bit of kit Assuming that we're talking about day or overnight sessions, I've chosen six such shelters, which I feel give a fair representation of what's out there. Typically, you don’t see this on brolly systems as they aim to keep weight to a minimum for mobile anglers.Fishing shelters range from the classic super-brolly system right through to the latest advances in long session bivvy designs. A nice addition is the vents on the side, which is something you don’t normally see in budget brollies and bivvies.

Used to have a Wychwood brolly and it was great. Now have a Tempest and also fantastic. Would highly recommend either. Seen way too many issues with Fox shelters to risk buying one of them, I know people who love them but know more who have had nightmares. A carp anglers’ home from home! There is a multitude of different carp bivvy options, shelters and brolly systems all designed to keep you warm and dry in the harshest of weather. All of our carp fishing brollies come with a range of features that are worth considering when it comes to narrowing down the best option for your bankside shelter such as waterproofing, high quality fabric, a range of sizes, strong structures and different pole types. If you're travelling light or don't need to take the proverbial kitchen sink, a lightweight shelter is all you need for cover. Of course, while we're not talking winter storms, the UK weather can still throw up some surprises in the spring and early summer. So first, and foremost, any shelter you use must perform its primary task of keeping you protected, be it against squally showers, flash storms or high winds.

Self-locating Elbows feature retaining fixing points for the vapour Peak for a super-fast and secure fastening of the skull cap I have more direct experience of some than others, but am familiar with them all, so I hope that one or more of my top six will suit your taste and budget. What to look for when buying a carp brolly or shelter The shelter was already being exchanged due to the awful workmanship, but the new one hadn't arrived in time for my session on the Trent. Needless to say I'll be thinking very hard about it's replacement. Shame, as I really like the Avid. The main advantage of a brolly system over a traditional bivvy is the speed at which it can be set up.
