Sounds a little pretentious, perhaps, but Alkkemist Gin, is distilled when the influence of the moon is bigger: 12 times a year. This Spanish gin was created in collaboration with a chef, a mixologist, a sommelier, and a master parfumeur, along with its two founders. It is made using two different distillation methods. The first uses a wheat-base and juniper berries and distillation occurs in a copper pot still. The second involves a Rotaval which uses low-temperature distillation. The botanicals that make up the nose and taste of this gin is very intriguing if you are interested in the mix that makes up a drink. I admit I not often myself go into much detail on this but simply tasting Alkkemist had me searching for more information. Spain’s Alkkemist Gin places emphasis on the influence of the full moon in its production processes, and Ng spotted interesting flavours such as lemongrass and muscat grape. He believes these will appeal to Asian palates.
