About this deal

If you are running on a 60 Amp fuse, you just have to be mindfully of what demand you are placing on that fuse.

He recommended speaking to my DNO who would probably upgrade it to 80 Amps for free, but if I insisted on a 100 Amp fuse, they are very likely to place a cost on that service. I would guess that a 60 Amp fuse is capable of carrying more than its max load before it actually fails to be truthful. I have been running on a 60 Amp fuse for the last five year and late last year I had “Smart Meters” installed by EDF.

Legislation and Environmental

Then at peak demand time, our demand ( cooking etc ) is well inside of the safety scope of the 60 Amp protection fuse. It is a setting where a circuit experiences a current that is higher than the normal operating current.

My first attempt was asking the smart meter installer, who said he would have happily done it then if he'd had a fuse with him Breaking capacity is the level of current that the fuse can safely handle without exploding or breaking. The breaking capacity of your fuse should be greater than the fault current of your electronic circuit.Just gone through this malarky in preparation for an EV one day. 16mm Meter tails and unknown main fuse size at the time. WTF? I though other people had got this done for free? What even is a low voltage cut-out, won't I already have one, and why do I suddenly need a new one? And how long (and how much 'project management') does it take to change a fuse?
