This fixes one of the major reasons for lead acid batteries degrading over time, namely acid stratification. That’s when the electrolyte solution of sulphuric acid and distilled water becomes poorly mixed and impairs the battery’s ability to store and hence give power to the vehicle. It must be noted that an AGM battery must never be opened once it leaves the factory, as sulphation could occur on the plates leading to an irreversible loss in performance.
