About this deal

Another impact from Covid was the delay in filming in the islands, which had to be left to the last tranche of the filming period because of the difficulties of getting a crew out to remote locations like the Monach Isles and the Shiants, even though these places have no inhabitants. There is room for around 7 motorhomes and free water is available to refill your water tanks and grey waste disposal! Having filmed across the whole of Scotland, Maramedia noted many changes in the fauna and flora they worked with. Some underwater habitats had noticeably deteriorated since the filming of the company’s Hebrides series filmed in 2011. But other species such as ospreys, red kites and beavers have become commoner and more widespread. Pine Martens have also increased and are doing well right across the nation.

The hills of the Highlands are the starting point of many of Scotland’s great rivers and here a pair of dippers are hard at work building a nest. These industrious birds are nesting earlier than ever before in response to a warming climate. This was another of my favourite wild camping spots in Scotland, simply because we were parked right next to Braemar Castle which is not only a really cool castle in the daylight, but it’s lit up at night so it looks brilliant! However, wild camping is highly tolerated in Scotland for motorhomes and campervans and more and more spots are becoming available. Filmed in hundreds of locations from remote islands to busy cities, Scotland the New Wild has been more than three years in the making. The trilogy will debut in the UK on BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer before playing across the world. That means taking your rubbish with you, your belongings, and ensuring you don’t ruin the environment you’re staying at. Why should you wild camp in Scotland?Wonderful spot, but it is exposed to the elements. Best wild camping spots on the NC500 Applecross (IV54 8XT, Strathcarron) Both Stagecoach and Citylink operate regular bus services to Aviemore. You can reach Aviemore via the Express Coaches from London Victoria and all over the country, or there is also a Scottish Citylink bus service which has limited stops at the park. But you really can’t 'make an appointment' with animals in Scotland, they generally don’t just ‘turn up’. And in remote areas, the terrain can be incredibly tough-going and there is the challenge of even just getting there. And of course, there is the weather!" In the glen below is the largest remaining fragment of the great wood of Caledon. This special forest is among the last places some very rare species can be found, including the critically endangered capercaillie. Other species are found in much greater numbers here. Huge wood ant nests are seen dotted throughout the forest and in the branches of the Scots Pines above, these industrious insects farm groups of aphids, caressing them with their antennae to encourage sweet secretions of honeydew which nourish the ants and their larvae. Fergus says: "Honestly normally I’d be delighted to see one pine-marten out in the day, but in this instance when the mum turned up on her own, I was a bit peeved with her, saying to myself 'C’mon, where’s the kits?'"

His fervour for his work in his home country is palpable as he adds: "I am far more inspired by the animals we get here rather than anything in Africa or South America, because these are the animals which drew my passion to wildlife film-making in the first place… As long as you park somewhere sensible, remote and you aren’t invading a “no overnight parking” sign then you’ll find you have no trouble wild camping in Scotland. So this could mean staying in a field, parking up by a lake, in a beach carpark, or in a large parking layby. A coalition of the Freedom Party, VVD, and the NSC party of centrist lawmaker Pieter Omtzigt would have 81 seats combined, making it the most obvious combination but which could still take months of difficult talks. The main train station is in Aviemore – regular trains from Edinburgh, Perth, Glasgow, Inverness and an overnight sleeper from London stop here. Anyone planning to travel by train can make journeys across the UK with Scotrail and East Coast Trains. You might consider using Trainline to plan your journey. The three episodes, titled Islands, Lowlands and Highlands, are full of spectacle and surprise from rutting red deer stags in the glens to battling grey seal bulls on remote islands and the beauty of the outer Hebridean Machair. Other highlights include the urban beavers of Perth, dashing peregrine falcons above the streets of Edinburgh, miniature wonders like the aphid-farming wood ants and the astonishing bog raft spider – an invertebrate that walks on water. This game of pro- and anti-India or China is mainly restricted to the political class because what matters most to people are things like street lights, fish processing units, school digitisation programs and speech therapy units with which India is the lead player," Ms Tambi said.
