About this deal

The mystery really takes an unexpected turn in this novel, going in a direction I had not expected and leaving me wanting more. It is truly difficult to predict the many twists and turns that make this one of the greatest young adult mysteries I have ever read. someone said the book has got some really interesting AGATHA CHRISTIE mentions and you know i love her ! Truly Devious is truly amazing. It is a MUST READ. Book #2 is already going to the top of my most anticipated releases for 2019. Friends, you’d think a book that is centered around two different murders would be a lot more exciting and enjoyable to read. I know I sound harsh already, but I just really thought I was going to love this one. But I truly only ended up loving the atmosphere of the setting and the amazing anxiety rep. That’s it.

Johnson deftly twists two mysteries together—Stevie’s investigation is interspersed with case files and recollections from the Ellington kidnapping—and the result is a suspenseful, attention-grabbing mystery with no clear solution. The versatile Johnson is no stranger to suspense, and this twisty thriller will leave plenty of readers anxious for more.” — Booklist Like a fool, he gives up all his money before ensuring that his family is alive. He doesn't even bring a police force with him. I am actually happy I put off reading Truly Devious for almost a year after it was released, because honestly, I don't think I could have waited for the sequel. This was ... WILD. The twists?!?! The turns!!! The REVEALS. I think this is definitely becoming one of my new favourite series?? and I am DYING FOR BOOK THREE ALREADYOne of the worst things is when witnesses start talking to each other. As soon as you start talking to someone else, the story you have in your head changes. Human memory is rewritten like computer memory. You just get the most updated file." I have to say Agatha Christi- esque vibes of the mystery: claustrophobic whodunnit with And Then There Were None and Clue themes made me love the story more. At least, she thinks she has. With this latest tragedy, it’s hard to concentrate on the past. Not only has someone died in town, but David disappeared of his own free will and is up to something. Stevie is sure that somehow—somehow—all these things connect. The three deaths in the present. The deaths in the past. The missing Alice Ellingham and the missing David Eastman. Somewhere in this place of riddles and puzzles there must be answers. I found this aspect of Stevie's character super relatable. The anxiety rep was some of the best I have ever read; at least based on my own personal experiences.

This posh Academy offers up an environment where learning is intended to be fun. Students are allowed to pursue individual interests with hardly any limits.

the things that made this series good were not here, and the things that made this series bad — our protagonist stevie's never-progressing identical character arc, side character david as a presence, david as a romantic lead, stevie in general, the attempts at emotion — were here in spades! I just don't like the awkward romance thing between David and Stevie. It's so awkward. I preferred the chemistry between Vi and Janelle more no matter how small their parts were. In fact, I like all the characters with all their flaws and perfections. Three a little disappointed but still determined enough to give a chance to the second book of trilogy stars. Honestly, this whole thing is confusing. I'm so not cut out for detective work. I'll leave that to Stevie.😎

the vanishing stair takes place directly after the events of Truly Devious, as stevie continues to try solving the ellingham case, and the mystery of the death of one of her classmates. a book gives you everything. it gives you a window into other souls, other worlds. the world is a door. books are the key." What is objectively annoying about this book though, is the ending, which there is none. What's the point of reading the whole mystery book to just find out that you don't even have all basic facts to guess the murderer? Ahhh David was really not okay in this book.🤣 And now he's run off and away from Ellingham. RIP David.
