Staple to a wallboard, and give your display a 3-D effect. Use Your Windows Let me share a simple tutorial with you, in case your classroom is begging for a tree! How to Make a Simple Classroom Tree: The Tutorial

Make a ‘Record-breaking trees’ booklet / poster with facts about amazing trees (e.g. the tallest tree in the world, the oldest tree in the world). Your completed classroom tree will show the world what a diverse, yet tight-knit, classroom family you have. Effective displays create a space where students want to come and learn, as well as a place where I want to work. I try to change my displays twice a year, or at least move some displays around, to keep the interest alive. Near the teacher’s desk, I have a range of educational posters, marking suggestions and other teacher tools (see below) which are not only an aide memoire for me, but also show the students that we are all engaged in the process of learning. Most kids love to talk about themselves and starting school with an all-about-me activity is a good way to get to know your students as you begin to build relationships. But have you thought to set up classroom displays using the result of the project? By setting them up on the classroom walls, students can get to know their new classmates over the course of the first few weeks of school, and parents will love to spot their child on the wall. This tree template can be used to display representations of all these things and more. The only limit is yours and your students' imaginations. In colder climates, the tree will only need to be trimmed around once a year, as they can grow slowly. If you decide to display trees of UK heritage with this resource, you can discuss with your KS1 class the following types: Using eye-catching and fun reading displays is another way of engaging children with their reading. Reading displays can act as a reminder of the joys of reading, and you can use them to highlight children's reading achievements too. Here are some classroom display ideas you can refer to throughout the year to keep your students engaged, curious, and proud of their hard work! Set Up Word Walls

Once you’ve found a palm tree to plant (either indoor or outdoor), you’ll need to take steps to care for the plant when it’s growing: This Missing Mona Lisa activity consists of 9 chapters, approximately 60 minutes each designed for Year 5 and 6 students. Students will investigate, research, and justify their suspicions as the story takes many twists and turns. ‘All About Me’ Classroom Display Ideas If you’re looking for an exciting craft activity, children can make their own 3D palm tree to display in the classroom or at home.

Why are display posters important?

This Tree Poster for KS2 features 6 trees, with the type of leaf each tree grows in a smaller picture. Children will be able to identify the leaves they see outside, as they become familiar with the type of trees that grow in the area they live. It will be interesting for them to spot how many trees or leaves they find. This fun All About Me Concertina Template is perfect to print and use for the first week of school. This activity will help you assess your students’ ability to write their own names and numbers 0-10. Choose from a range of school fonts and designs to suit the children in your class. We Fit Together! We have loads of resources about trees, ranging from display resources, templates, worksheets, and other activities to support your teaching about them. Here are just a few for you to look at: If possible (depending on your settings display positioning), create an interactive autumn display. Interactive displays are great for allowing children to explore, taking their learning in their own direction. The church that our preschool resides in had done a remodel of the children’s wing and repainted all the walls.

A final thought which may seem at odds with all the colour and busy-ness of what I’ve hitherto described is the value of leaving a discernible, empty space on the walls in our classrooms. The reason being that very colourful, highly informative displays can sometimes be counterproductive (notably for students with ADHD). The adage, less is more, is helpful here and by consciously incorporating empty space one can provide a calming, distraction-free zone, too. While I was visiting my classroom I noticed a row of cardboard and paper trees attached to the walls in the church’s hallway, leftover from Vacation Bible School. I knew one of them would be perfect for our classroom! My director got the approval for each classroom to have one, if the teachers wanted them. It took me all of one day to get that tree on our wall. Your children will love having a visual history of their family and they could even take it home to celebrate their heritage with their loved ones. There are many different ways that you can present a display. Keep in mind that you need to keep your displays nice and simple to facilitate child-led learning, curiosity, and conversation. So here are some great EYFS autumn displays to spark your creativity!
