About this deal

Lighting wise, this house doesn’t actually have ceiling lights & at first I was going to get an electrician in to put them in, but then I thought about it & actually we never used our main lighting, instead preferring soft mood lighting from lamps in the evening. I replaced the wall lighting with these antique brass Millhouse from John Lewis& love the soft glow. I’m undecided about putting some art work below them but at the moment want to keep this space feeling fairly fresh & bright. I also got this antique brass lever arm floor lamp, currently in the sale from Dunelm.

Versatile – can be used when baby is sleeping OR awake for tummy time, a play or even changing mat. I can’t explain what changed inside of me this time around & made me achieve what I have so far this year which is currently a crazy 5 & a half stone but it was like a lightbulb moment. Josh Olson was the only student in his second grade class to see The House That Dripped Blood. Many years later, he wrote and directed the no-budget horror film, INFESTED, a brutal assault on The Big Chill, with zombies. He went on to write the screenplay for A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE and was nominated for the WGA, BAFTA and Academy Awards for Best Screenplay. He kept losing to Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana, but that’s okay. For so long I could only so much as dream about the life that I am now living. If I’m honest I didn’t think it would ever happen or that I would be the one to make it happen after so long of being scared to take a risk or step outside of my comfort zone. But let me tell you, it’s even better than the dream when it becomes reality. I can’t wait to see where life takes us but know that we’re going to spend many happy years within these walls & I can’t wait to take you guys along with me on the journey. At the end of the day, everyone has a reason to be proud of themselves & to be grateful for things they have in their life. The more we talk about this & moan less, the more positive we’ll feel & as they say….positivity breeds positivity. I’m going to go in to the whole moving process & our decision in depth another time, but for now, I have an (almost….) finished room ready to show you guys & she is a beauty. The rest of the house is pretty much upside down at the moment whilst I pour blood, sweat & tears in to renovating but this is such a peaceful, calm space that means we can close the doors (which do need to be replaced but they can wait) & almost pretend that everything is done for a second. One of my favourite brands for affordable home furnishings & most importantly, fabric (as we went through a LOT), is Dunelm so I called in some help & unbelievably, they were just as excited & on board with my vision. You’ll see lots of their products throughout the makeover, from the seat cushion upholstery to bedding, cushions, toaster & kettle & accessories. Being able to source pretty much everything you need to turn a house in to a home (or ugly caravan in to a pretty one…) from one place is pretty amazing in my book. This week is focusing on one of my favourite rooms in the house & probably the place I spend the vast majority of my time; the living room. I suppose you could say that this is more of a grown up’s lounge seeing as the kids tend to watch TV & play in the playroom (coming up in a couple of weeks) & so stays relatively tidy. It also means it was designed with that in mind so we didn’t need many storage solutions either.

The bedside tables are part of the Camille Limewash range from The Cotswold Company*& I couldn’t love them more if I tried. They are the perfect tone of natural wood against the green of the walls & are great quality being made of solid oak. Moving down to the other ‘end’ of the room is my console table (in colour ‘Truffle’) with statement feather prints which you can find on Etsy here. They are in Ikea ‘Ribba’ white 40x50cm frames. The table has two lamps which were from The Range originally, these gorgeous little artificial hedge urns from Hudson Home. Below is the large Somerton basket from Neptune with my favourite pom pom chunky knit throw from M&S in it then two silver easel frames here.

The only thing now left to do is paint the outside, however the cold weather means it’s the worst time possible to do it (& the risk of rain!) so that will be done in Spring. Hello 2020! A brand new year & I’m still getting over the fact that the Christmas decorations had to come down….it instantly feels so bare & soulless without the festive foliage & twinkling fairy lights. Hello & happy Friday! What a beautiful week it’s been & we’ve been lapping up that sunshine. It’s time for this weeks tour but if you missed last weeks kitchen post, or the week before’s hallway post then nows the time to catch up. I’ve decided, a year (& a month) on, to take on the challenge again but this time with a slight twist. This will give Mr THTMM (who’s doing it too) & I a bit of a boost just before Christmas. This leads directly in to your open plan living space inspired by my own home complete with a large kitchen, a lounge area with feature fireplace & a dining area; the perfect entertaining or family space.
