About this deal

The second major event to stand out in memory as being outside normal duties was much more dramatic and tragic. I happened to be Duty Officer one day and was more or less confined to the camp from morning till the flag came down at night. It was early afternoon and I was on my way from some errand to the Guardroom when I noticed a bright yellow painted ‘Firefly’, which I thought might be from a nearby Royal Naval air station, doing a series of relatively low-level power dives at a fairly steep angle a couple of miles to the west. It did seem a curious set of manoeuvres and I remarked on it to a passing fellow officer. He said he’d seen this done some days before and that he thought, though it was no more than hearsay, that it was on lease to Ferranti as a research aircraft on which to test new radar or other electronic gear. It was pointed out to me by someone at CitA that the EDP entitlement only applies to income-related ESA, which is a bit of a swizz, if I'm being kind. It is hallmarked solid silver and has the image of the Britannia figure with a lion on the other side. This represents the mother country of Britain whilst the lion actors Kenneth Connor, Kenneth Williams, Bob Monkhouse and Charles Hawtrey. His corporal was Bill Owen who many will fondly remember as Compo in last of the Summer Wine. This is a horrific prospect. If taken to its logical conclusion, then all company rules would apply; there'd be no more working in pyjamas, no alcohol allowed on the premises, and heaven help your pets. At least someone would pop round to water the plants.

Sitting at a table by the French doors to the sound of splashing water, Mary lays out a photo album to show what they inherited. The only visible planting was in a tiny island in the lawn, completely out of scale in such a vast space. “We were in trouble for taking it out because the roses were dedicated to somebody,” says Mary. That’s the thing about taking on a former hospice. There are bound to be sensitivities you wouldn’t know about. Mary then surprises me by pointing out the summer house they had erected which appeared to be at the edge of the garden. The author of Stand By Your Beds! has kindly given www.qaranc.co.uk permission to include this extract from his book: She has created four sensory beds – sight, taste, touch and scent – “I haven’t yet got hearing or clairvoyance! But they did let me have a timeline of medicinal plants which is where my particular interest is.” Get out the duster, put down your work and get your excuses ready – the VIPs are in…and they are heading to inspect your lab.Did any of the bodies supposedly taking an overview of the simplification of the benefits system ever comment on the ESA proposals? Samantha ( Victoria) played beautifully against type (I presume) and she surely enjoyed playing this strong minded character as much as I did watching. "Where did it all go Wrong" was passionately conveyed.

and the in-work support, which is most important and costly, can probably be provided by recruited volunteers, or hey, be a low paid job for ESAs...so i doubt the contractors have too much to fear from Freud's spin about being paid by results after 3 years, like yeah... The enthusiastic chorus played nurses, cleaners, typists, hospital managers, patients etc. as described in the programme notes. They learnt to fire and take care of an assortment of weapons which include the Bren gun, Sten gun and the .303 Lee Enfield Service rifle. Even amongst the dangers of the rifle range there was an opportunity for humour which the author shares with the reader of Stand By Your Beds!A garden created and tended by soldiers on a London rooftop is now blooming, just in time for National Gardening Week. Making claimants attend WFIs etc may not end up being such a big deal for some. To me, its the eventual compulsion to take part in 'activity' which may cause far more problems, especially if the activity is not suitable etc. Then Sue brings me up to date with modern day medicinal uses for plants such as valerian for calm, thyme for anti-bacterial thymol, and yew, currently in research for cancer therapy. Get Some In! was broadcast from 1975 to 1978 for six series on ITV by Thames Television. There were 34 episodes which included a Get Some In! Christmas special.
