About this deal

Machines like the Barista Express and Barista Pro don't have any assistance, they're no easier to get great espresso and great milk texture from than any other traditional espresso machine, integrated grinder or not. The Sage Oracle and Sage Oracle Touch are the same machines as the Dual Boiler in many ways, the same dual boilers, same triple heating system and so on, but there's one major difference which is that the Oracle machines are aimed at bean to cup users, while the Dual Boiler is aimed at the home barista market.

What they ended up with was not just something unique to domestic espresso machines, but something I think which is fairly unique even to commercial machines, and the long and short of it is that you end up with ridiculous temperature stability at a much lower cost than would usually be required to achieve that. If, however, you want more of a helping hand but still want the very best espresso, then consider Sage’s Oracle Touch instead: it has the same coffee-making skills as the Dual Boiler, but adds a touchscreen and a few hand-holding features to help you make the perfect coffee time after time. Internal cable tidy | So any cable not required is stored inside the rear of the machine, rather than looking messy The only reason I would start out with a more entry-level machine, personally, would be affordability. If you can't afford to shell out this kind of money, then of course you need to look within your budget, but if you can afford to invest in a machine like the Sage Dual Boiler, I'd definitely recommend it.

Not everyone can afford to spend this kind of money on a bean-to-cup coffee machine, but the PrimaDonna Soul does genuinely justify its asking price. It creates a huge range of drinks – 21 to be precise – and the milk carafe means that it takes just one prod of the touchscreen to produce a very pleasant cappuccino or latte. What sets it apart from the cheaper machines, however, is the Bean Adapt feature: this helps to eke far more flavour from every type of coffee bean than the average automatic machine. All of these settings means that you’ll need to make quite a few shots of espresso while you fine-tune your machine, but it’s totally worth it. Once we’d got The Dual Boiler set up properly, we got, hands-down, the best results we’ve had with any espresso machine so far. Perfect, red-brown crema sat on top of our shot of espresso, which is dark and rich in colour showing excellent extraction from our ground coffee. At 68C, the shot was just about perfect temperature wise, with additional shots coming out at the same temperature. Sage has used PID (proportional-integral-derivative) controllers for its boilers, which ensure that they deliver at a consistent temperature. There are single boiler machines, heat exchanger machines, and dual boiler machines. Single Boiler The Sage Barista Express is a single boiler espresso machine. This is basically what's happened with the Sage Dual boiler. The home barista community has mostly come around to accepting this espresso machine now for the great machine it is for the relatively tiny price tag, with some of the most well known and respected folk in this arena having come out to sing its praises more recently. Potential issues in more depth Some of them seem like really small things and don't relate to coffee quality, but they just make so much sense, you'll wonder why all other manufacturers don't do the same.

Easy (via LCD) adjustment of brew temperature with a range of 86 – 96C | Allows you to get the best result with different roast profiles Read on and we’ll explain which types of coffee machine you can choose from and explain their pros and cons. Scroll past our buying guide and you’ll find a list of our favourite manual espresso, capsule and bean-to-cup coffee machines at a range of prices to suit any budget. This was Sage's first machine in this category, it's their most expensive coffee machine, and it really is a premium machine. It's based on the Sage Dual boiler, my home espresso machine, in my opinion one of, if not THE best espresso machine on the market at anywhere close to what it sells for, at least where performance and flexibility is concerned. As I mentioned in the short review, the newer version of the Sage Dual Boiler, in the UK, has a 15 minute auto shut off. This is the right kind of espresso machine for me, in fact, I'm keeping the machine I've used for reviewing as my main home espresso machine. But this doesn't mean it's the right espresso machine for you.

Partly Assisted Coffee Machines

Either that, or you just really enjoy reading my stuff and you can't close this post ;-), and if that's the case, excellent. Small things Any espresso machine can develop bigger issues requiring major repair jobs, but from looking through the huge thread on the Home Barista forums and from speaking to engineers, I don't believe you're any more likely to encounter such an issue with a Sage Dual Boiler than any other dual boiler espresso machine.
