About this deal

Revolution Skincare Blemish and Pore Refining Serum is a hero for oily, congested and blemish-prone skin. Is this worsening expected? I thought an antibiotic and niacinamide wouldn't cause any initial "purge" or whatever. As the name of The Ordinary Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% suggests, this solution is formulated with the weaker vitamin C derivative, ascorbyl glucoside, at a dosage of 12%. Although it’s not as effective as l-ascorbic acid, it does have its benefits. It’s much more stable than l-ascorbic acid which means you don’t have to worry as much about it going rancid. It’s also more easily tolerated because your skin must convert it to l-ascorbic acid before it can use it. That means that if you have sensitive skin or haven’t been able to tolerate l-ascorbic acids in the past, this could be the solution for you! You’ll take additional reassurance knowing that just like the other The Ordinary products we’ve discussed, this solution is alcohol-, oil-, and fragrance-free, as well as vegan and cruelty-free.

Our dermatology team advise you to persist with your treatment for longer to be able to see significant difference. Both formulas are very basic. That’s how they’re able to keep their prices so low. They give you one or two actives – those that really do the job – and nothing else. What’s The Texture Like? This product claims to be a pore refining serum that helps reduce the look of blemishes (and pores). Also, the formulations is perfect for oily, congested and, obviously, blemish-prone skin. Since there are a couple of claims about this serum, I am going to break them down while describing my experience. In combination, these ingredients regulate the skin’s natural oil production to help prevent further congestion, while Zinc has calming and soothing properties, to help reduce the appearance of active blemishes.

Zinc Oxide helps to calm and soothe whilst reducing the appearance of active blemishes, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) helps to prevent congestion whilst balancing your natural sebum levels, and Allantoin helps to prevent skin irritation and future breakouts. As always, here we are! At the end of the day, would I recommend the 10% Niacinamide + 1% Zinc serum by Revolution Skincare? I would, but under determinate circumstances. Niacinamide can be easily integrated into any routine as it is compatible with lots of other powerful ingredients – it works great with alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), retinol, ceramides, peptides, hyaluronic acid and salicylic acids. You should be able to start seeing results within 2–4 weeks. This is also a true claim! The oil production of my face definitely slowed down while I was using this serum, and it showed a lot even when I was wearing a full face of makeup.Niacinamide is the most versatile ingredient in skincare. It can do everything. I’m not exaggerating. Studies show that Niacinamide:

How to use: Shake well before use. Apply to a few drops to clean, dry skin. Use morning and evening for best results. That doesn’t stop it from being super drying, but it’s the only thing that sets it a little apart from Revolution Skincare Blemish and Pore Refining Serum – 10% Niacinamide + 1% Zinc.

Caution: Discontinue use if redness or irritation occurs. Keep out of eyes. For external use only. Do not use with topically applied vitamin C. Vitamin C products should be applied to the skin at an alternate time.

The product in itself worked well and, for the price, I can’t really be mad at it. I think that the bittersweet experience was caused by me expecting something different out of it.
