About this deal

Ralph's Club is one of the many fragrances that are proof that you can never satisfy the fragrance community and there will always be something to hate on.

Its definitely a blue type fragrance. Its super versatile, non-offensive, and generally highly crowd pleasing. Its a super warm and comforting frag, and its strength in the midrange of the notes makes it viable pretty much year round. Its just.. a good fragrance. The lavender and sage mix with the high quality amber is just such an amazing cant-stop-smelling type profile. The ad shows a few young and good looking individuals who look like being dressed up and hanging out in a high end club in New York city. I don't see the connection between that image and this scent. The scent is inoffensive and pleasant; and I consider it pretty versatile in terms of style or season." Not to say RCP turns out to be anything unique in the overcrowded world of blue fragrances designed for maximum appeal, as BdC, Sauvage, Y EDP/Parfum and a thousand Invictus Aqua clones have already stripped that goldmine for all it’s worth. Ralph Lauren is late to the game here, without a doubt. There is a traditionally masculine tone to Ralph’s Club Parfum as earthy notes are typically associated with men’s fragrances. I think every man should at least have one of these kinds of scents in his collection. Something he can spray on whenever that will work in any situation and that will make him smell good to most people. I am someone who very rarely gets compliments on fragrances. I call BS on anyone claiming “fragrance XYZ got me 7 compliments today.”

As for this fragrance, while it's certainly nothing new and no doubt quite overpriced at retail (aren't they all?!), it's one of those versatile, people pleasing scents which is also pleasant for the wearer if they feel like wearing something simple & pleasant on a particular day. The true market for this fragrance, as with many of the Chanel's, Dior's YSL's and so on (which get far more hype/love) is to please the masses, not so much the fragrance 'enthusiast' especially those who seek something 'different' smelling, to put it politely. I'll admit, if you let the scent sit on you for a while, a few serviceable impressions come through. The whole thing reminds me of something like mixing together a bad copy of Zino and a botched clone of Armani's Code with some sweaty notes. What I'm about to write, I mean entirely without irony or malice: Ralph's Club has an appealing harmony of slight sweetness and some astringency in conjunction with the lavender Surrugat in a relatively short window of time. Overall, however, it falls far short. To me this doesn't smell that much like Y Le Parfum, which has a much more distinct sweet grapefruit note at the top that I don't care for. This is much smoother and more balanced. Now as time as passed I realise that this is one of those easy reach, don't need to think about it kind of fragrances; you can use this is pretty much any situation, and you will get complimented, and you will smell nice. I typically wear this stuff when I'm going to the shops, nothing too serious. Good all rounder and a people pleaser. Performance and sillage are okay, not amazing. The omens let us guess. The L'Oréal group has the upper hand here and the perfumer has no dare to be officially named. Unfortunately, even the distinctive flacon is of no use ... Ralph Lauren gets thanks to the strict bouncer in the circle of really exclusive and high-quality made perfumes no access. And so it is not surprising that in Ralph's Club all ingredients seemingly from chemistry class could be mopted and reflect only the breath of lavender, clary sage, cedar or vetiver. I personally think this will live-up as new face of Ralph in 20’s era but it will not tear up as other blue.

Quality superb, longevity and sillage are much better than many other blues, (but dont expect this to reach out like Sauvage) for most designer frags, definitely give this a chance, but understand this isn't some super dark, mysterious grown-up frag.Unfortunately the performance is terrible for me. I actually prefer more intimate scents but on my skin this projects a few feet for literally 30 minutes and then becomes a skin scent. After a few hours it disappears almost entirely, which is unacceptable for a parfum where you're supposed to gain longevity in exchange for the lower sillage. Smells a lot better than many 'niche' fragrances I've tried. What is truly baffling is niche snobs bemoaning people for wanting to smell nice, well not everyone wants to smell like a furry animal's nether regions crossed with a mouldy Camembert cheese that was abandoned in a derelict bedsit only to become a shrine to the rodent population. This to me feels like they took the original and added more layers to it. The original was very much aromatic and woody and so is Parfum, but the aromatic side in parfum is more nuanced and its woodiness feels a bit different. There's also a soft dose of something sweet which really makes it a lot more likable and appealing. I'll be sure to post more later today or tomorrow, with my updated opinion after re-applying it at lunch and making it through the rest of the work day. Silage-wise it is not in the same ball-park as Eros or my other favorite blue, Yves Saint Laurent Y EDP. It's decent though. It would make a great casual, office, or date scent. If you're looking for something to assault other people's senses and draws in compliments (aren't we all?), this may not be strong enough for you. With enough sprays it still may be a club contender, unfortunately I don't have enough in my sample to test this out.

When I sampled Ralph's Club I thought I was smelling something special. To me, it's lavender on top of more lavender with a complimentary vetiver dry down which adds just the right amount of depth for me that I imagine a Ralph Lauren fragrance would have. This reflects more like the new blue.. it’s more greenish blue. Blue in earthly, herbal accord which quit new in the market. This fragrance is just as boring, bland and generic as the "socially acceptable" people in the advert. Where are they, what are they doing, do they even know each other, there's zero chemistry there. Just a collection of what the photographer thought "Cool People" should look like. The photo has zero chemistry and the fragrance mirrors the magnificent shallowness of the advertisement.
