If you’re worried about burning yourself, this model has an excellent safety mechanism. On the right there’s a standard mixer tap lever that dispenses cold mains water and hot water from the home’s boiler. On the left there’s an identical lever for the near-boiled water system. To activate it, you push down on the lever and pull it towards you, holding it in position to keep the flow going. You will have seen that many of the taps featured only go up to around 95-98° (just under boiling point). Not technically living up to their name, you may think.

Efficient 100°C Boiling Water

Looks-wise, it is modern yet classy. You couldn’t tell it was a boiling water tap from looks as it isn’t bulky or cumbersome. The button to switch to spray mode is also quite well-hidden which is nice. Filling up a hot water bottle – just be careful of your hands, but that goes for a standard kettle too. Highly visual and tactile, it provides peace of mind for children or more vulnerable members of the family.

QETTLE is surprisingly simple. Underneath the sink, there’s a compact boiler tank and a filter system. The efficient, insulated tank maintains its volume of water at 100°C. The filter system removes unpleasant contaminants such as chlorine from the flow of drinking water, whilst also minimising the damaging effect of limescale on the boiler tank’s element. The included water filter is adjustable according to the water hardness of your home, which will help prolong the life of the filter until you need to change it. Monitoring its performance is easy, as it will update you as to when it needs replacing.The design is nice enough too. The spout has a J shape, it comes in a range of metal finishes and you can choose between Modern for a contemporary kitchen or Classic, with its white lever handles and subtly flared base. But it doesn’t have the fancy design details and glowing lights of premium boiling water taps. So, making the equivalent of 10, 300ml mugs of tea a day could cost as little as 10 pence in total.
