About this deal

The aroma – and the hype – behind Punk AF promised so much. But, despite that gorgeous and varied aroma, it falls a bit flat. Rather than remove the alcohol after fermentation, Brewdog produce a wort that’s low in fermentable sugars to make its Nanny State beer. Whether it's IPA or lager, it all begins with a process called mashing. In this step, malted grain (or other types of grain) is partly crushed and mixed with hot water. The grain goes through a few more steps - lautering and boiling - before it reaches fermentation. This is where the alcohol is produced.

Taste, aroma and mouthfeel Ironically, it was Brewdog’s response to the furore created by these extra-strong beers that led it to brew another non-conformist beer, the 0.5% “ Nanny State” at a time when few breweries would even consider making a low or no alcohol beer.

any other matter for which it would be illegal for us to exclude or attempt to exclude our liability. At BrewDog, we’ve grown organically since making our first product, Punk IPA, in 2007. Now, we’ve got dozens of beers plus a range of ciders, spirits and alcohol-free beverages to tempt the adventurous drinker. In 2015, we launched our first gluten-free beer, Vagabond Pale Ale, alongside our regular range. It proved popular, and as far as taste was concerned, it was every bit as flavoursome as the barley-based beers we made.
