It's been wild and windy in Greendale and some of the telephone lines are down. So when an urgent message comes through for The Reverend Timms, it's up to Pat to save the day. Postman Pat Takes Flight - Major Forbes is showing some films about his flying exploits and he's promised a surprise arrival, too. But come the day of the film show, it's Pat who is up, up and away! Pat's having a very busy day. He's delivered a parcel to Granny Dryden, saved a flower garden from some wandering sheep and now, he's about to climb aboard a tractor to deliver a registered letter.

This is the first Postman Pat video release to contain the 1997-2009 BBC Video Ident and is also the only Postman Pat video release to contain the 1997-1999 Childrens' BBC Video trailer. The spine on the 1992 re-release shows a picture from Postman Pat and the Toy Soldiers even though that episode isn't actually on this video.This video was re-released in 1998 and sold exclusively by Marks and Spencer which was distributed under license by BBC Worldwide and the video itself remained the same as the 1993 re-release. The video tape of Postman Pat's Big Video got updated in 1993 with The 1991-1997 BBC Video Ident, a slide with 4 other Postman Pat videos that are also available from BBC Video, a new title card for "Postman Pat's Big Video" (with a silent scene of Postman Pat collecting a letter, closing the letterbox and walking into his van from the show's opening titles) and new content for the episodes (with title logos at the start of each episode) on that video. This video was originally released as a Marks and Spencer video in 1986 before it received a BBC Video release two years later in 1988.
