About this deal

Wood oils help to protect and preserve interior and exterior wood by feeding the timber to to keep it nourished and supple. They are the easiest of all wood finishes to maintain and repair. A patch repair, for example, where a scuff, scratch, stain or areas of wear has occurred can be easily fixed by simply sanding the affected area and applying more

Wood first treated with Osmo Wood Protector 4006 may appear a little more dark. Always trial apply Osmo Polyx®-Oil 3044 Raw over the Wood Protector to ensure the final appearance meets with expectations. Available in wood tone colours, perfect as a base coat or can be intermixed to create different shades I could basically copy and paste the description for Polyx-oil as far as the finish goes. My favorite to use is still the clear satin, however the tints look good too. Osmo looks amazing external cedar but it also suits hardwood such as oak windows and doors. The white build up could be a couple of issues, if you have used the Osmo Polyx Oil Raw , this product has a small amount of white pigment to counteract the darkening you get with a clear oil. Against a darker wood the white will show through and you get that milky appearance. Regular Cleaning: Dust mopping using the green Dust-Mop from the Osmo Mop Cleaning Kit for Floors. Damp mopping using diluted Osmo Wash and Care and the Micro-Mop plush from the Osmo Mop Cleaning Kit for Floors. Alternatively use the convenient Osmo Spray-MopMy preference is the satin over the matt as I think it gives you the most dramatic impact. The best thing about any Osmo oil is how rich it makes your timber look!! Osmo brings out the grain like no other product I have used in my professional career, except maybe Fiddes Hard Wax Oil. Even when using tinted Osmo oil you loose nothing in the way of character and charm from the wood. For extractive rich hardwoods (e.g. Wenge, Merbau, Jatoba etc.), we recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin. A trial application is recommended. Application of top coat of clear Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original can be carried out once the first coat has dried. However, if the first coat was a coloured Osmo finish ( eg Polyx®-Oil Tint or Wood Wax Finish Transparent) wait approx. 24hrs before applying Osmo Polyx®-Oil Original clear top coat. In addition to its practical benefits, Polyx-Oil Effect is also easy to apply and brings out the natural beauty of the wood. Simply clean and sand the surface, apply the oil using a cloth or roller, and allow it to dry. The result is a beautiful, natural finish that will last for years to come.

Applying the product too generously and insufficient ventilation lead to delays in drying time and the typical smell of oil. The oil will reach full hardness after around 10 days to 2 weeks, time frame can depend on temperatures, and good air circulation will speed this up. Considering half the floor is now tinted (tainted?) with Osmo Raw, how can we get a consistent finish across the whole surface? Perfect sanding is a must for a clean and attractive surface finish. Please see the technical data sheet for the recommended sanding sequences for the surface you are treating. For daily maintenance, cleaning with a dry duster, floor mop or vacuum cleaner will be sufficient. For commercial premises, an electric floor polisher can be used.

A. In short, 'No'. Oiled and waxed finishes on floors are 'Micro-porous' which means that although the wood is protected, it can still breath as it is not completely sealed as it would be with a varnish.Occasional Maintenance: If the oiled surface remains light in colour yet there is a reduction in water repellency, refresh the surface with Osmo Maintenance Oil 3079 Clear Matt. Before using Osmo Maintenance Oil 3079, damp clean the surface using diluted Osmo Wash and Care, or alternatively Osmo Spray cleaner and allow to fully dry. For small areas Osmo Maintenance Oil 3079 can be applied thinly with a lint free cloth or white pad. Remove excess product. Allow for good ventilation while drying. A small trial is highly recommended first. It seems there is a lot of confusion out there over the differences between all the Osmo products. I am asked all the time about how to choose which finish to use, and am constantly told the numbers just add to the confusion. And I totally get it. I felt the same way when first starting to use Osmo on my own projects. While I won’t be covering every single product Osmo makes, I can offer some guidance on the ones I do. I’ll try to make this as simple as possible.

Osmo Polyx-Oil Effect is the ultimate choice for protecting and enhancing your wood surfaces. This high-quality finish is made from natural plant-based oils and waxes, making it environmentally friendly and safe to use.

Please Note: Osmo Polyx Oil, as with any other clear wood oil will enhance the grain and character of the wood by giving it a damp like appearance. To test how the wood will look once the oil has been applied, slightly dampen the wood using a clean sponge or cloth. Never saturate wooden surfaces with water. Once dampened, the wood must be allowed to fully dry before applying the oil. The original clear hard wax oil designed for most wooden floors & surfaces. Available in Satin, Matt, Semi-Matt and Glossy
