This book could be used in literacy as a model for children's own writing about a time when they did something and something went wrong as a result. The author and illustrator, Judith Kerr delights her audience with the story of a tiger that invites himself to tea with a young girl named Sophie. However, the tiger ends up eating and drinking everything in sight! The next day Sophie gets a tin of tiger food for her new friend, but the tiger does not return. This story does not have a solid conclusion with a typical American “happy ending” that ties up all loose strings.

Logue’s story is like a literary form of a warm and cozy blanket. It is warm and comforting, with a seamless blend of simple language and poetic imagery. However, a few customers felt that the story was not active enough to keep their attention.
