About this deal

The macro camera, as is the case with most macro snappers you find on smartphones, took pictures that weren’t as good as those taken with the main camera. Networks A mobile (cellular) network is a radio system, which allows a large number of mobile devices to communicate with each other. GSM RAM (Random-Access Memory) is used by the operating system and all installed applications. Data in the RAM is lost after the device is turned off or restarted.

The Moto G8 Power Lite’s screen has a 20:9 aspect ratio, which means it’s relatively tall and thin compared to other devices. This contributes to the fact that, as mentioned it can be a little unwieldy in the hand, but it does mean you can see more content on-screen. The same applies to its gaming abilities. In our GFXBench Manhattan 3 test, the Moto G8 Power Lite managed an average on-screen frame rate of 16fps, dropping to 10fps for the offscreen segment. The Moto G8 and Note 8T both cranked out an average of 19fps for the offscreen element, and the Moto G8, in particular, excelled in the on-screen part of the test with an average of 34fps. Remember that the Redmi Note 8T has a much higher resolution display, which accounts for its comparatively weaker performance. There’s a fairly subtle teardrop notch at the top of the screen to house the selfie camera, and bezels run round the edge of the display, along with a relatively significant chin at the bottom. The Motorola G8 Power Lite runs on a MediaTek Helio P35 chipset, which is a significant downgrade from the Motorola G8 Power’s Snapdragon 665. You can see that clearly just by glancing at the benchmark scores recorded below: The macro camera is a lot of fun to play around with. It’s capable of capturing intricate details on the smallest objects – such as tiny blossoming flowers or the 5p coin seen below – from just 2.5cm away. The standard Moto G8 can get ever so slightly closer, with a macro distance of 2cm. Motorola does bring its own tweaks to the Android formula, mainly in the way of its gesture shortcuts – among other things you can make a double-karate chop motion to turn on the flashlight, rotate your wrist twice to open the camera app, and turn the phone up-side-down to activate do-not-disturb mode. Still, this is the kind of display you’d expect to find on a phone at this price point, and it’s certainly not terrible. It’s bright, and while colors don’t exactly ‘pop’, they’re not too dark or grimy either. The display is LCD, which means it has a rather low contrast rate compared to the more common OLED screens, and this can be noticeable when you’re watching movies or playing games.

The display resolution shows the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. The higher the resolution is, the greater the detail of the displayed content. The instruction set architecture (ISA) is a set of commands used by the software to manage the CPU's work. Information about the set of instructions the processor can execute. The Moto G8 Power Lite isn’t a handset you should look at if you’re a budding smartphone photographer, as while its camera array isn’t terrible, it’s no better than passable, and we’d recommend splashing out on a slightly pricier phone (perhaps one of the other Moto G8 devices) if you want to take good-looking snaps. We found that with typical use – listening to music, scrolling through social media, and snapping the odd picture – the G8 Power Lite would last us two days. Intensive tasks will tax the phone of course, but the G8 Power Lite should last longer than the competition when performing comparable tasks.

Motorola Moto G8 vs G8 Power vs G8 Power Lite benchmark performance and software

The rear cameras of mobile devices use mainly a LED flash. It may arrive in a single, dual- or multi-light setup and in different arrangements.

For finer control, leave this on to allow details, and instead hide sensitive content from specific apps. Scrolling through apps can be a little juddery, but I didn’t find that apps would shutdown on me, and limited multi-tasking didn’t present any major problems either. But games had to be played on low graphics settings, so if you’re a keen gamer you might want to shell out a bit more a more capable handset. Motorola G8 Power Lite Battery life

Information about additional software and hardware features of the rear camera which improve its overall performance. The screen is one of the areas where the Moto G8 Power Lite gets a downgrade compared to other Moto G8 devices – with a 720 x 1600 resolution it’s rather low-res, and only HD, unlike most other smartphone displays which are FHD or above.
