About this deal

With a modern 1200W motor under the hood, the CX1 Cat & Dog is extremely quiet. Maximum noise of the cleaner – including the Cat & Dog head running on its fastest setting – was just 72dB. In fact, the sound of the air rushing into the cyclone at over 100mph is a large part of that noise since the motor itself is very well suppressed. You simply can’t beat the CX1 Cat & Dog’s superb suction, high airflow and super-quiet operation. Add in the self-cleaning main filter, outstanding build quality and the Cat & Dog floorhead for great carpet cleaning (with or without a pet), and the Blizzard CX1 Cat & Dog PowerLine is a fabulous all-round cylinder cleaner. Verdict If the Cat & Dog edges into the lead on stairs, it charged way out in front on pet hair cleaning duties – particularly on carpeted floors. The Cat & Dog head is purpose-built for digging out fur balls and pet hairs entwined into the pile, and the CX1’s super-suction does a great job of transferring them into the bin. On hard floors both the EcoTeq and SRD heads were excellent at capturing loose hair balls, thanks mostly to the CX1’s high suction and airflow. On occasion, hairs can become caught on the bristles of the EcoTeq head, but the stepped cut-outs in the bristles help to reduce this effect. It’s got all the best smart sensor technology so that it can detect and make its way around your house but it does sometimes struggle to go from room to room.

The only thing you have to do is make sure you clean out the filter every 6 months. And if you’re in a house with long hair then you’ll need to clean out the brush that will get wrapped with hair. But a small price to pay for an appliance that could last you 20 years. If you ask people who already own a Miele vacuum how long they’ve had it. Most of them will tell you they’ve had it for at least 10 years! Adding Miele’s pet-centric rotating brush bar Cat & Dog floorhead to an already excellent tool lineup, the Blizzard CX1 Cat & Dog PowerLine is arguably the most practical, versatile and best-performing model in Miele’s bagless cleaner range. It’s still a big beast for stairs, the small bin filter is messy, and the cable could be longer – but these are all minor niggles. However, the excellence has a HEPA filter that filters out any dust particles and allergens from the air leaving your room feeling fresher after you’ve vacuumed. But not only that, it has a powered rotating brush to do an even more thorough job of vacuum carpets getting up hair and dust. None of the CX1 models are really great for stair cleaning, but the Cat & Dog nudges into the lead here thanks to the extra manoeuvrability of the Cat & Dog head. A lot of people who are replacing their Miele vacuums are usually disappointed to have to downgrade from a 1200w motor to a 900w motor. Won’t the suction be so much worse?

It’s also almost 9kg which is heavy for a cylinder vacuum cleaner so lifting it upstairs could be more difficult, if you’re fit and healthy you’ll be fine, however. The CX1 body and single cyclone produce prodigious suction and a huge amount of airflow, translating through the floorheads into highly efficient cleaning. Yes, the EcoTeq head will clamp down on carpet on the highest power setting as if it’s lead-weighted, but on the carpet and rug settings it balances great suction with far easier manoeuvrability. Dyson has superior cleaning power. But they also make upright vacuums instead of canister ones like the Miele. I can see the idea of a robot vacuum cleaner being a good one, but your money is better spent on a better quality vacuum cleaner in my opinion. The Silence AirClean filter acts as a silencer for your vacuum, muffling motor and suction noises as you clean. Hugely beneficial if one or more household members work from home or if you have pets/children sensitive to loud noises. When approaching stairs, the Blizzard CX1 Cat & Dog PowerLine has the same issue as its siblings – it’s weighty to carry and too large to sit comfortably on average UK household steps. It has the ability to stand upright on its rear, but even this presents a pretty large footprint that’s likely to hang over the step edge. hard floor head has high friction and does not glide smoothly across the floor, but kind of grinds its way across (better on tiles, terrible on lino planks) When AirClean filters are combined with Miele HyClean vacuum bags and the motor protection filter, over 99.9% of fine dust and other particulates are removed from the air – resulting in air even cleaner than it was pre-vacuum.
