About this deal

Bookshelf or stand-mounted loudspeakers can’t be lumped into the same category when it comes to bass response and that is certainly true in regard to the RP-600M II. I knew from my experience with the RP-600M that while they were not bass shy, there isn’t as much impact in the low end as you might expect. Switching up to Musical Fidelity’s M2si proved to be the sweet-spot pairing though. A little more body, notes more rounded out than through the Marantz. And a fabulously wide and deep soundstage. I had a slight preference for the sound of the RP-600Ms with their magnetically attached grilles in place, but my review observations were made without grilles.

Finishes include ebony vinyl and walnut vinyl that boast satin painted baffles with a scratch resistant finish. Early Reflections Directivity Index (EPDI): is defined as the difference between the listening window curve and the early reflections curve. In small rooms, early reflections figure prominently in what is measured and heard in the room so this curve may provide insights into potential sound quality. High Frequency Driver: 1” Titanium LTS Vented Tweeter with Hybrid Cross-Section Expanded Tractrix® Horn: Who knows what that is. After so many speakers I'd find it hard that bias is at play and interestingly my GF tends to have the same experince with the same speakers.(thankfully)Both RP-600M II and RP-600M features dual binding post speaker terminals for bi-amping or bi-wiring.

The same recordings came across with slightly less energy through the RP-600M II and the tonal balance was more accurate this time around. The new 600M sounds far more linear than any Klipsch speaker we have tested. I could still hear a mild rise in the bass around 40-50Hz, though I doubt many listeners will mind because it gives a fuller sound down low, and in some smaller to medium spaces may negate the need for a subwoofer. This being a rear-ported speaker, placement is key. Obviously you can boost the bass even further by parking the speaker closer to your front wall, or lessen the bass by pulling it out into your room; nevertheless, there is a rise in the speaker’s lower octaves that helps the bass to sound deeper not to mention just down right larger than you may expect a bookshelf like this to sound. But even with this slight boost in the lower octaves the resulting bass was more articulate than expected, possessing terrific speed and detail that blended well with the designer's sprinkling of manipulated weight. The Klipsch Reference Premiere RP-600M II speakers could be the right choice for people looking for high-end sound without spending too much. Its quality components, such as the Tractrix horn, LTS Titanium Diaphragm Tweeter, and Cerametallic Woofer, provide an enjoyable listening experience with its wide soundstage and dynamic range. Its connectivity options, such as the Bi-Wiring and Bi-Amping also make it possible to create powerful audio setups. Additionally, the AVR-540BT amp has a built-in digital tuner for easy tuning of your favorite stations, and this discrete 5-channel amplifier is also well-known as a high-current amplifier (70W per channel at 8 ohms). The AVR-540BT also features advanced BK HDMI connection (8K/60Hz, 4K/120Hz, HLG, HDR, Dolby Vision, HDR10+) with having 8K upscaling is supported (four HDMI inputs / 1 output) picture quality and also supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD for high fidelity and integrated multi-room audio system ( Denon HEOS LINK). The Denon AVR-S540BT features 70W per channel at 8 ohms; you can adjust power and drive your Klipsch speakers for good sound. As with all equipment, aesthetics are very much a personal choice. To my eyes, the bronze-coloured woofer and horn tweeter look purposeful and have a professional studio monitor vibe, albeit with a touch of glamour. A magnetically attached cloth grill is provided if you'd rather the speaker appears more discreet, although for this review, they were not used.

In the song “Annabelle” I loved how the guitar and horn solos were precisely placed on both sides of the soundstage. Macy’s vocal was nicely focused in the center and sounded very natural. The 600M II made the performance come alive, with nice depth and height, providing a holographic performance I’ve only heard from speakers costing twice as much, like the Polk Legend L200 and the Buchardt S400. A spectacularly high efficiency rating of 94.5dB makes it possible to use these speakers with just about any amp or mini system. The ultra-high efficiency rating means an amp with a power output of just 10 watts should be enough to power these speakers to high levels. This makes them the ideal match for valve amps or even good quality but lower powered mini systems.Semyon Bychkov’s newly released Mahler 1 with the Czech Philharmonic is a superb recording coupled to one of the best readings I’ve heard. The M2si and RP-600M II laid it all out in front of me in a huge soundstage. The music was expansive, explosive, stirring; goosebumps abounded. As with the best systems, analysis fell by the wayside as the music gripped me. This Yamaha R-S202 Receiver has 40 preset FM/AM stations and a frequency response of 10Hz - 100kHz (0 plus/minus 0.5 dB / 0 plus/minus 3.0 dB). With an input sensitivity of 500 MV/47k ohms and speaker selector for two systems, the Yamaha R-S202 Receiver has an advanced circuitry design and is excellent for Klipsch RP-600M speakers. The Two channels of 100 W high-power output are provided by the R-S202BL, which matches RP-600M power specifications. So, with an R-S202BL receiver, you can drive the RP-600M speaker at loud volume levels without distortion. One of my favorite aspects of the new Klipsch was how it had so much more control down low than the original. This gave the new 600M an authority and weight the original speaker couldn’t match. The Wrap Up The Tractrix ports on these Reference Premiere speakers also come in handy if you want deeper bass. Klipsch’s Tractrix geometry ensures an efficient sound transference from the port and bumps up the low-end frequencies. Moreover, custom inner flares also reduce air turbulence entering the port for noise reduction.
