About this deal

The basket is very spacious and it’s a huge plus for a compact stroller. I was able to put my own purse, along with two big bags of shopping in without any major issues. The Joolz Aer comes straight out of the box ready to unfold and go, with no assembly needed. The box is itself a Joolz feature, with eye-catching instructions for turning it into a toy airplane for your child.

I took it to London and it did just fine on uneven pathways and up and down the curbs. While the wheels aren’t huge it even got through the cobblestones without wobbling, just a stronger push. I wouldn’t say that it can handle cobblestones like a stroller or wagon with huge wheels, but it got through them.

Reusable packaging

You have a choice of collapsing the buggy flat or leaving it freestanding, depending on the space you’re fitting it into. It’s ideal for small apartment living, carrying up long flights of stairs or storing in a small car. This is ideal if they are in the semi-reclined position having a nap so that even when their head is lower down the sun can’t sneak through to their face and disturb them. The handlebar is covered in leatherette for the comfort of the user. It isn’t extendable, but proved a suitable height for both the taller (6’1”) and shorter (5’6”) parent in our tester’s family. Neither found they needed to compensate while pushing by bending or stooping. A bit more of a subtle update, but still very thoughtful, the Joolz Aer+ has the mesh panel on the hood closer to the handlebar, so you can easily peek in at your little one in the stroller. The original Joolz Aer mesh was just a bit too far forward making it awkward to see through to the seat if you’re standing behind the stroller. More Durable & More Sustainable Fabrics I know this will be the biggest question people will have about the Joolz Aer+ especially once it has been fully launched in the global market as this is one feature that is not consistent between all countries.

The recline is deeper offering near flat recline (in the European version at least, because it’s not as deep US & Australian versions due to recline laws on compact strollers – it makes the stroller less stable). This buggy doesn’t just look good, though. Both soft and practical, our tester put it through its paces over a whopping 50 miles and there were no signs of wear and tear after testing was complete. There’s also a bumper bar for younger babies to give added peace of mind and a carry bag for storing the pushchair when folded, a particularly useful addition when travelling. Australia WILL NOT be getting the full newborn recline that will be available in other parts of the world, which means we also will miss out on the updates to the seat recline mechanism.

Joolz Aer+ Buggy

The release of the new Joolz Aer+ stroller version is making many parents ask whether it’s worth the upgrade. What’s new? Were all the annoying features of Joolz Aer corrected?

Would Joolz Aer work for siblings? Joolz finally released the footboard / buggy board with seat and people get excited that the board folds with a stroller (but it makes it way too big for the plane anyway). I still prefer the Yoyo’s board though, but it might be a personal preference.

Pros

When it comes to sun protection, the Joolz Aer is fitted with a generous UPF50+ sunshade which unzips to offer even more protection, revealing breathable mesh that allows you to see your child. Our tester found it shaded her three-year-old well from the hips upwards. Are there any extra features? When it first launched it wasn’t, but now Joolz Aer is suitable for a newborn with a cot. The stroller folds with the bassinet attached (makes it a little bigger though), which is fantastic.

The wheels are high-quality, with grooves that help the buggy take on bumps with surprising ease. Our parent tester, Adele, took the Joolz Aer around a grassy park, along city pavements and on country walks. The sun hood on the original Joolz Aer was one of the more generous sun hoods on a travel stroller, but the Joolz Aer+ took things a whole lot further! When the sun hood is extended the Joolz Aer+ comes down so far that your little one will have nearly complete protection from sun, wind and weather. In terms of size, the Aer falls in the middle of the range when compared to the 11 other buggies we tested.

The shopping basket on the Joolz Aer is outstanding and it was one of the main things our tester noticed on first impression. The canopy is minimally larger and the huge peekaboo mesh is smaller, but still doesn’t offer the flap.
