About this deal

Double Hop Monster IPA is the wildest, hoppiest beer we've ever brewed. A "Big" beer in every way, it's bold, bitter and thanks to extensive dry-hopping - fabulously aromatic. With the ale rolling over the middle palate, the bounty of fruits grow with a delicious sense of peach, orange, mango, apricot and a lighter dates character. As the sweetness wraps around both the fruit impressions from hops and also the yeast esters, the smooth bitterness of resins rise with bolder suggestions of tea, spruce, hemp and verbena to close the session out. Pineapple the strongest aroma here, the alcohol breezes through gently but adds a nice little amount of spicey heat on a deep inhale. Bits of mango and bready malt. General citrusy hop notes, very zesty. Some mango too, typical for the style.

Any time there is a trend, I worry that everyone will jump on board. But this doesn’t mean the beer will be good; it just means they want to capitalize on the trend.I poured it directly out of the refrigerator so it was still very cold. I think this added to the appealing flavor it had. While some beers are better closer to room temperature, most New England IPAs seem to be best cold. I see no reason why the demand for New England IPAs will fade. But supply will increase as more and more breweries brew them. Is Hazy Jane hazy then? Well, actually… of course it is. It has a straw hue and there’s no visible particles.

In early 2018, BrewDog’s forward march collided with the growing popularity of hazy IPAs. Naturally, they introduced a New England IPA titled Hazy Jane, an unfiltered, opaque IPA that would be available throughout its distribution network. Interestingly, though, the beer wasn’t brewed in Scotland, but in BrewDog’s Ohio location. Part of BrewDog’s year-round lineup, Hazy Jane is a stalwart offering from the UK brewery earning acclaim stateside and abroad. This mix of ingredients – including the lactose, which survives fermentation – means Hazy Jane has more calories, carbs and sugar than Brewdog’s low-calorie NA beers, “ Nanny State” and “ Raspberry Blitz“. This beer is supposed to be very cloudy. Don’t be shy to get a good bit of the hot break into the fermenter. Gypsy craft brewery Mikkeller has already had a go at a non-alcoholic NEIPA with its “ Weird Weather” 0.3% beer.

Finally, another Brewdog AF beer to get excited about. The aroma is stunning, and while the standard of the mouthfeel and flavour isn’t quite as high, this is a fair attempt at a NEIPA. Hazy Jane pours a turbid light golden-orange color with a frothy off-white foam. I found a light tea note with some bitter herbal flavors to dominate the aroma. Subtle orange and pineapple wafted in and out. The hallmark of this beer is its balance of bitterness and bright fruit flavor in the taste. Now Brewdog has created “Hazy Jane” (also known as “Hazy AF”) – an ultra-low-alcohol (0.5%) NEIPA, loosely based on its full-strength “Hazy Jane” beer – in concept if not in ingredients and bitterness. Full of hops and with a lasting fruity flavour, yardbird is inspired by the bold American pale ales. Brisk, hoppy and not too strong - perfect for enjoying with friends. Jane just got a lot bigger. BrewDog gives their hazy lady a plump makeover by boosting the alcohol to nine percent and accepts the flavors, body and strength that comes along with it. I am a huge fan of the New England IPA. They often make my list of The Best Craft Beer that I drink each month. As the name suggests, Strong Suffolk is not for the faint-hearted. We blend a proportion of our very special and rare vintage 5x brew with a rich malty dark ale to create a deeply satisfying and complex beer. But that’s a good thing as most people have been waiting in lines or trading to get this style of beer over the past few years. Most of you aren’t going to spend a good portion of your weekend hunting for beer. As well as the core ingredients of water, malted barley, yeast and hops, Hazy Jane includes flaked oats and torrified wheat (probably to help with head retention and body), and lactic acid, which may be added at the mashing stage of the brewing process or before fermentation to add sourness to the beer.
