In "A Goodbye for Frances," Frances discovers that her mother is going to be performing in a piano recital in the city, meaning that she will be gone overnight. This distresses Frances, and she tries to make up various excuses to keep her mom from leaving. She is concerned that her father won't be able to put her to bed properly without her mom around, and continues to hold this belief no matter how much her parents try to reassure her. To prevent her mom from leaving, Frances steals her car keys, but soon regrets this decision. She decides to allow her mother to leave, but asks her to call her on the phone that night and sing her a bedtime song so that she can sleep. That night, her father sings her a different song instead, which successfully puts her to sleep anyway. The next morning Frances is awakened by her mother, much to her joy.

So many characters came to Frank,” Rabben said. “They were the yin to Henson’s yang… Miss Piggy and Fozzie were kind of foils to Jim Henson’s character, Kermit the Frog. Frank’s Bert was always a foil to [Henson’s] Ernie.” Chris Lytton is the President and COO of The Jim Henson Company. Based in Los Angeles, Mr. Lytton oversees the Company’s day-to-day operations, including business affairs, distribution, and consumer products. He also focuses on exploring new lines of business and joint ventures, including opportunities with China and other international markets. Logan, Brian (August 16, 2013). "Puppet Up! The Jim Henson Hour was modeled after the old Walt Disney Presents anthology series (later under different titles, including Disneyland and Wonderful World of Color), in which every week Walt Disney would show off the latest innovations and creations of his production company. At the beginning of each episode, Jim Henson would enter a computer-generated set (alongside the Thought Lion from The StoryTeller) and introduce the evening's show.

For example, the theme song is sung to the tune of Handel Messiah's Hallelujah. From 1969 to 2000, Henson was contracted to design and create Muppet characters for Sesame Street. With the exception of occasional appearances in the Muppets franchise, the characters were used exclusively for Sesame Street, but Henson legally owned these characters prior to their acquisition by Sesame Workshop. The only exception was Kermit the Frog, who was featured in other projects prior to Sesame Street. Sesame Workshop retains the rights to use any Sesame Street footage featuring the character.

The second half-hour featured more serious and sometimes darker content, such as installments of The StoryTeller and Lighthouse Island. Occasionally, a light-hearted story or more Muppet antics (such as Miss Piggy's Hollywood) would close out the hour. James, Meg (February 18, 2004). "Kermit Is Now Part of Magic Kingdom". They were very much contradictory characters — love and friendship, but also tension,” Rabben said. “It shows relationships have conflict, but you work through it. You find love and joy through difference and coexistence.” A rare look at artistic resistance to the Nazis Lisa’s feature credits include Sony Pictures Animation’s The Star and Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, as well as MirrorMask, The Muppets’ Wizard of Oz, Good Boy!, and Henson Alternative’s The Happytime Murders. In A Baby Sister for Frances, Frances is annoyed that baby Gloria is taking up her parents' attention, so she decides to run away. She only goes as far as the kitchen table, though, and she decides to "come home" after her parents purposefully have an Easily-Overheard Conversation about how much they miss her and how much Gloria will miss having a big sister.

In "A Whiny Sister for Frances," the family plans a trip to their favorite amusement park, and Frances is extremely excited. However, the night before the trip her little sister Gloria comes down with the flu, and her parents spend all night taking care of her. In the morning everyone except Frances is too tired for the trip, and they tell Frances they'll have to stay home to take care of Gloria. Frances believes this is unfair and storms off. She tries to have fun with her parents at home, but they are too exhausted to join in and are constantly tending to Gloria. Frances resents Gloria for taking attention away from her, but her father asks her to put herself in Gloria's position. Frances realizes that although she's mad at Gloria, she appreciates her far more than she realized. When she hears Gloria calling for her, she decides that Gloria needs her and decides to make a "family day" of helping her parents take care of her. After a few days Gloria recovers and the family prepares to take their trip to the amusement park, but Frances has caught Gloria's flu, and they all stay home to take care of her. For young kids, early introduction to music is through simple melodies and rhythms, as their sensibilities are not yet developed enough to appreciate more complex forms. Here you have the lives and simple values of the destitute but happy Otter family, two generations living and singing in harmony are contrasted to the rowdy thug-led River Bottom band and their clashing music,” says Landt. “It resonates with me, a senior citizen, because Strictly Jug Nuts is a lot of fun and has a good following, but much like Emmet and Ma singing their duets, we are not of professional quality -- we do it for love of the music and the friendship.”
