For this dinosaur drawing, we drew the diplodocus. This is one of the most recognizable dinosaur species that is popular around the world, but you could draw some more dinosaurs around it. You could draw these feathery details onto this dino if you want to replicate this theory. Once again, you can find pictures online of this look for this dinosaur! Whether your little one is a beginner or an experienced artist, learning how to draw a dinosaur will keep them entertained for a while and may spark some additional interest in drawing or dinosaurs.

You could replicate these details as they appear in the reference picture, but you can also change a few details if you want a unique look for your picture! Some of the most popular dinosaurs that people draw are famous species like the stegosaurus, T. rex, and triceratops. For step 7 of this guide on how to draw a dinosaur, there’s a chance to be a bit creative! To finish off your dinosaur drawing, it just needs a nice face along with some smaller line details. Use any colors you like. The best choice would be shades of green or brown. Don’t forget about the highlight inside the eye and the light part on the lower part of the body. We've also created an easy tutorial with step-by-step instructions that are free to print at the bottom of the blog post. I also think having the printable drawing guide helps in making the easy drawings come to life. For this step, we will only be adding in the legs that are closest to us, and we will add in the other two legs later. Step 6 – Next, draw in the other two legs If you love drawing tutorials as much as we do, then you will not want to miss some of our other fun drawing lessons. After you have a finished drawing of a dinosaur to work with, you can fill in the colors and textures you want to use.

Draw the dinosaur’s eyebrows and an oval on either side of the bottom guideline for the dinosaur’s nostrils. Let’s use the feet for an example, if you’ve tried and tried but can’t seem to do it, then you can maybe hide the feet. You could do this with some small plants and shrubs, for example. With the head of the dinosaur complete, it’s time to move on to the body and tail. Draw the basic body shape by drawing a U-shaped open oval on the bottom of the dinosaur’s snout, flattening it slightly on the bottom. The good news is that kids at this age are like sponges, and love to absorb all the info they can about these creatures that lived so long ago. In fact, a recent study showed that being obsessed with dinosaurs can actually enhance kids’ intelligence. That’s great news when it comes to choosing books, videos and toys about them, but what about when it comes to drawing a dinosaur? A few ovals and rectangles might work for kindergarteners, but what if they are hoping to draw something with a little more detail?
