During this time, Callum works his way up the LM ranks, hurting and killing Crosses and losing his humanity in the process. Sephy quits drinking, finds herself at school, and joins a resistance group. She decides to be a lawyer like Kelani Adams when she grows up. However, the themes of the book (racism and things relating to it) is exceptionally poignant and very important. It is at times obvious-which it needs to be-and sometimes blunt-which it needs to be-and often harsh-which it needs to be. I can't say I've read anything like this before but I couldn't help from feeling annoyed that it wasn't written with me in mind. I hated all the characters to the point that I really dOne hot afternoon, Mother makes Sephy put on an expensive dress to go to some undisclosed location. Sephy enters Hewmett Prison extremely confused and doesn’t realize she’s at Dad’s execution until guards bring him out to the scaffold. However, just before Dad is killed, the prison governor stays the execution. When Mum and Callum get to see Dad hours later, Dad says he’s done fighting. Sephy is extremely disturbed by the day’s events—and is then confused when she learns Mother paid the McGregors’ legal fees. She goes to bed and cries herself to sleep. Kamal tells Sephy that if she keeps her child, Callum will be hanged, but if she has the abortion, he will serve years in prison instead. Kamal makes a similar offer to Callum, wanting Callum to publicly admit to raping Sephy. Both decide to keep the baby, and Callum is hanged at the gallows. The Noughts & Crosses series are still my favourite books of all time and showed me just how amazing story-telling could be' STORMZY After her friend Tobey calls her a terrorist's daughter, Callie struggles with discovering the real career of her father: he was considered a terrorist. She becomes angry with her mother for hiding the truth and decides to follow in the path of her father, cutting off her friendship with Tobey despite his attempts to apologise.

Alex Mcauley: Main antagonist of Double Cross, a crime boss in a war with the Dowds. He tries to make Tobey join him, but is killed by Dan, who replaces him. Sometimes, it happens in real life. Quite devastating, but that's reality. Remember, we cannot please all people, but they cannot control someone's feelings of who to love. Sephy is smart and courageous – the daughter of a powerful politician. Her relationship with her family, however, is very strained. One look at the Liberation Militia and their beliefs and principles gives you some sort of insight as to what goes on in the minds of the people belonging to terrorist groups. Not that I think of LM as a terrorist group but considering what they do and the way they do it - obviously they could be conceived as a terrorist organisation in one way. They are not at all bad or evil people - they just believe and understand that what they do is the right thing. They really do believe that in their heart of hearts. After all the cause really is the right one, the noble one! After all there is only so much one can take before they stand up and fight against it. But the way they choose to implement it - I believe that is not the best method.Attempting to provoke Jude, Sephy tells him that Kamal gave Callum the choice to save his life or to keep their baby and Callum chose their baby. Jude loses his temper and tries to shoot her, but his gun jams. Minerva, in an attempt to save Sephy and herself, runs towards the front door and screams for help. She fails and Jude shoots her in the shoulder. And while Sephy does enjoy kissing Callum, when he moves his hand to her "waist and higher" she tries to push his hand away, but he does not move it. When she vocally tries voice her discomfortant HE LITERALLY TELLS HER TO "SHUSH". She then tries to away, but he continues to kiss her. While she is sleeping, Callum literally thinks about how he could kill her at any moment, and how he wants to. Sephy struggles with seeing Meggie losing the last remaining member of her family and decides to give a false alibi to Jude for Cara's death for Meggie's sake. He escapes the death penalty and only serves a few month in prison for LM membership; afterwards, he accuses Andrew of Cara's murder in addition to being a government informer; Andrew is soon shot dead by the LM. Despite Sephy saving his life, still holds a grudge against her and plots revenge. She has been awarded numerous prizes for her work, including the Red House Children’s Book Award and the Fantastic Fiction Award. Malorie has also been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal. In 2005 she was honoured with the Eleanor Farjeon Award in recognition of her contribution to children’s books, and in 2008 she received an OBE for her services to children’s literature. She has been described by The Times as ‘a national treasure’.

The ending was very predictable. I guessed what would happen about two thirds of the way in. But while I was about fifteen chapters from the end, the ending was spoiled for me anyway, IN THE BLURB OF THE NEXT BOOK. I feel as though this is just an obvious mistake that any publisher would look out for. So, if you don't want to be spoiled for the ending, then I recommend not reading the blurb for An Eye For An Eye. So many before me have loved this, and I did, to an extent, as well. But their love touched me so deeply that I feel I'm a little scarred-and I don't take kindly to emotional scarring.But soon Callie is caught in a trap she can’t get out of – one which will have deadly consequences. Ryan McGregor: Callum, Jude, and Lynette's father, who is killed trying to escape from prison after the Dundale bombing. I would have loved this book had I read it as a teenager, I know that for sure. As an adult, I found the chapters a little brief, a bit hurried, a tad too unsubtle. Which would be fine for an adolescent's attention span.

I just....there were so many moments where hate spewed from the two main characters and it broke my heart. They loved each other, but all these horrible situations kept happening where Callum's class would show and he would get this visceral feeling where he resented all the crosses (naturally and understandably), including Sephy. It's so easy to group those we are closest to with a bad situation and I found it to be very realistic-but it still broke my damn heart. Each time they'd overcome something, another obstacle catapulted itself right in their way, each situation more venomous than the last. It was a great look at the struggle between different races and the battles that can come with class and hierarchy. I felt it to the bottom of my soul, and it definitely flipped the coin-quite a bit.
