Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with the ingredients of Benylin mucus cough & cold all-in-one relief. Just because a side effect is stated here doesn't mean that all people using this medicines will experience that or any side effect. Taking any other product for colds, flu or congestion as Covonia All-in-One contains a decongestant Treatment with activated charcoal should be considered if the overdose has been taken within 1 hour. Plasma paracetamol concentration should be measured at 4 hours or later after ingestion (earlier concentrations are unreliable). Treatment with N-acetylcysteine may be used up to 24 hours after ingestion of paracetamol, however, the maximum protective effect is obtained up to 8 hours post-ingestion. The effectiveness of the antidote declines sharply after this time. If required, the patient should be given intravenous N-acetylcysteine, in line with the established dosage schedule. If vomiting is not a problem, oral methionine may be a suitable alternative for remote areas, outside hospital. Management of patients who present with serious hepatic dysfunction beyond 24 hours from ingestion should be discussed with the NPIS or a liver unit.

This medicine contains less than 1 mmol sodium (23 mg) per dose, that is to say essentially 'sodium-free'. The concomitant use with other products containing paracetamol may lead to an overdose. Paracetamol overdose may cause liver failure which may require liver transplant or lead to death. Pregnancy:This medication should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks. If you are pregnant, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication.

An interaction between two medications does not always mean that you must stop taking one of them.Speak to your doctor about how any drug interactions are being managed or should be managed. Symptoms of paracetamol overdosage in the first 24 hours include pallor, nausea, vomiting, anorexia and abdominal pain. Liver damage may become apparent 12 to 48 hours after ingestion. Abnormalities of glucose metabolism and metabolic acidosis may occur. In severe poisoning hepatic failure may progress to encephalopathy, haemorrhage, hypoglycaemia, cerebral oedema, coma and death. Acute renal failure with acute tubular necrosis, strongly suggested by loin pain, haematuria and proteinuria, may develop even in the absence of severe liver damage. Cardiac arrhythmias and pancreatitis have been reported. Benylin mucus cough & cold all-in-one relief tablets contain the painkiller paracetamol (250mg), a cough expectorant called guaifenesin (100mg) and a decongestant called phenylephrine hydrochloride (5mg). These three active ingredients have different actions to relieve your symptoms.

Additional symptoms may include hypertension and possibly reflux bradycardia. In severe cases confusion, hallucinations, seizures and arrythmias may occir. However the amount required to produce serious phenylephrine toxicity would be greater than required to cause paracetamol-related toxicity.Expectorants such as guaifenesin are used to treat a productive, chesty or mucus cough, where you cough up phlegm. Guaifenesin helps to thin and loosen the mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up. When taken by mouth, decongestants such as phenylephrine can also temporarily decrease the production of breast milk with just one or two doses. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for further advice.) Paracetamol should be used with care in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment. The hazard of overdose is greater than those with non–cirrhotic alcoholic liver disease. serotonin/norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs; e.g., desvenlafaxine, duloxetine, venlafaxine)

The antidiabetic medicines exenatide, lixisenatide and liraglutide may slow down the absorption of paracetamol into the bloodstream, so it might take longer to work if you're using one of these medicines to treat your diabetes. Ask your pharmacist for more advice. Talk to a doctor at once if you or your child take too much of this medicine even if you feel well. This is because too much paracetamol can cause delayed, serious liver damage.
