About this deal

Gaps – Are there any threats that your army is not able to deal with? Can it reasonably take on monsters as well as hordes? Is it able to hold objectives while doing so? This may not be apparent at first and will take some practice, but is good to keep in mind. The main points of struggle were on the robe skirt and the sleeves. Using decent plastic glue (Tamia Extra Thin because it has a brush applicator, not a stupid spout) you can meld these joins together relatively easily. So why the different armour? If you haven’t been keeping up with Broken Realms, you might want to have a look at this primer to find out why these new warriors are essential to the Stormcast Eternals’ continued survival in the Mortal Realms. Sigmar’s champions have been linked directly to Azyr since their creation, but that connection has been compromised. Next come highlights of Sotek Green. That’s the primary color I’m going with here but I need to blend it a bit. I start by basically coloring in the areas that are gonna be Sotek.

Who it ain’t for is beginners. Just as we recommended against new players going for Age of Sigmar’s Soul Wars starter set (unless they were big fans of both armies, and dead set on buying the hardcover rulebook) Dominion is not the best way into the game for newbies. Dominion is full to bursting with glorious Warhammer goodness – two full armies, each with several units, a powerful Leader, and ample support. It also includes the full Core Book with an exclusive cover, plus loads of warscrolls and reference material. Many of the battleplans used in Warhammer Age of Sigmar utilise the control of objective markers as a means to determine the winner of the game or to otherwise represent locations of the battlefield. This set of objectives represents a settlement of the Dawnbringer Crusades in various states of disrepair, and includes such features as a sentry bell and shrine to the God-King Sigmar. All this stuff will make some great pieces for basing materials or to retrofit and differentiate some of my older Stormcast units. Kruleboyz Orruks With the AoS 3.0 Dominion box coming very soon, we wanted to see what kind of value you can get from grabbing one of these! As Dominion itself is a limited release, I highly expect to see this sprue in all of the upcoming AoS 3.0 Starter Edition Boxed Sets. Whatever they be named (I doubt that Recruit, Elite and Command will be reused). Warhammer Age of Sigmar Dominion – Sprue B – Vindictors

And this is the mess I mean. The guide would have you get parts 48-52, then 29-30, then 38-42. Or, if you follow it numerically, you’re building J, F, G, E, I, B, D, C, H, A. It’s whatever heresy is in the Age of Sigmar. While Dominion is aimed at veteran hobbyists, it is still a great starting point for anyone looking to get into Warhammer Age of Sigmar with the latest edition. It won't be priced as a starter-set, but if you're interested in playing either the Stormcast Eternals or Kruleboyz, then this is a solid place to start, as all you need to add is a tape measure and dice. The miniatures are also push-fit, with only a few options for construction, so no glue required, which is perfect for the beginner hobbyist. Dominion MiniaturesThe only optional build on this sprue is model J (parts 1-9) which can be built as either a Gutrippa or Gutrippa Boss Mortal wounds bypass the enemy’s Save roll, which means they are extremely useful for dislodging powerful units, Heroes, and Monsters who often head into battle with heavy armour of their own. Annihilators don’t just deal mortal wounds when they arrive on the battlefield, they can potentially land even more in the midst of the fighting too. These peerless leaders are the finest strategists in Sigmar’s service, wielding the forces of the Stormcast Eternals as one unstoppable war engine. My absolute favourite models from this box. The Bladeguad Veterans Annihilators are the big mean bodied hulks of the bunch. Big detailed shields, massive hammers, gigantic shoulders. That armour would make even Marcus Fenix blush.

There’s nothing on this model you can paint in sub-assemblies. Parts like the inside of the robes do not look fun. Lord-Imperatant with Gryph-Hound

Painting the Stormcast Eternals

With these being of the easy-build/push-fit ilk, I expected this to be some simple chopping and squeezing with just a bit of attention applied to trimming down sprue games and shaving off mould lines. I wanted to come out of this review telling you that push-fit is now my preferred way of building Warhammer models. This novel by Darius Hink plunges directly into the setting of the Era of the Beast as the Kruleboyz rise up and the Thunderstrike Stormcast Eternals take to the field. Next up I did a basecoat of Ultramarines Blue Contrast Paint to lay down the base color. Swiftblade recommended I use Macragge Blue but I didn’t have any of that sitting around and this is basically the same shade.

Also we’re assuming this is the format some of these kits will release in, as we saw with some of the Indomitus units, GW kept them the same Easy To Build Models, and some they released as mulit-part later as well, for basically the same price as the ETB ones. I was surprised by these sprues. After the Indomitus release where everything fitted together so easily and appropriately snug, I came into this expecting to blitz through building some of the highest detailed plastic models ever produced. Whilst many people seem to complain that GW is selling you on a Fear of Missing Out! Please consider that FOMO is used by many companies to create artificial demand for ongoing products lines. Dominion is not an ongoing product line. It is one release and done. GW isn’t going to be making more money, they have made a set amount of these. they’ll make the same no matter when it sells. Whatever the reason, Dominion is an unmissable boxed set for miniature painters. There are some of the best models ever sculpted available at some of the lowest possible prices. We don’t know what will come next but following the precedent set by Indomitus, we can hazard a guess that you’ll see various starter sets with a selection, but probably not all, of the models above. For example, on sprue A, Parts 1-9 are the parts needed to build your first Gutrippa, that being the Gutrippa boss or a standard Gutrippa variant. Parts 10-12 are your second Gutrippa Parts 13-17 the next and so on…The main struggle with these is the join line down the cape on each side. once again some sprue goo (that’s glue with some old sprue mixed in to make a melted plastic paste) will be your friend here. Leading the charge is a new collectible boxed set, Age of Sigmar: Dominion, and three smaller starter sets. What was once a muddled setting with a stilted ruleset, Age of Sigmar is accelerating its growth, breaking away from existing tropes and evolving into something unique and memorable. If you were looking for a place to jump into the hobby, now is an exceptionally good time. The Pitched Battle Profiles update the points values for all the Warhammer Age of Sigmar units that are currently supported in the game to rebalance them in line with the new edition. If matched play is your jam, don’t miss out on these essential companion books. Unless GW has decided to up their standardized prices on everything last second… this should be a solid guide.
