About this deal

Thank you for your interest in our product. I do believe the coating would be a good option for a decorative finish. Once fully cured there is unlikely to be any problem with water spilt on the surface, though standing/pooling water could cause the surface to discolour. Once the base and the activator have been mixed then it initiates the chemical reaction that causes it to cure. So once the two components have been mixed you have a limited amount of time to apply it before it has hardened too much. Often it is recommended to keep stirring at different intervals throughout to give you some extra time to apply the whole mix. Old paint finishes should be removed if flaking at all and the surface should be sanded to create a texture (also known as a mechanical key) prior to applying Resincoat HB Epoxy Garage Floor Paint. When preparing for a floor coat, doing so mechanically (shot-blasting or grinding) is always advisable for best results, but if that is not possible then sanding the area or our Etch and Clean is a good alternative. After the surface has been completely abraded, thoroughly sweep and vacuum the area of any remaining dust or contaminants. For more information on preparation, please see technical data sheet. Q: I wish to repaint a concrete garage floor with 2 coat epoxy resin . It has previously been painted with Watco Epoxy Matt Coat. This is now 8 years old and soiled . The colour was light grey Matt finish.

Of all of the mistakes, this is the most difficult one to fix. If you have applied one of the components, then applying the other one over the top, or trying to mix it on the surface won’t fix it. The whole thing would have to come up and start again. So you really need to make sure you get this part right the first time! This product should NOT be split. Taking smaller quantities from each tin, even if measured correctly, may cause issues with activating. The cured final coat is ok for foot traffic. Cars and heavy objects, however, should be left off the new coating for the first 48 hours and chemicals including water should not be introduced for the first 7 days (Full chemical cure). If the specified induction time is not followed then it can lead to further issues, such as: a lower gloss level, yellowing, blushing, colour variation and more. Common mistakes:

Drying Time- Touch dry in 30 minutes, hard dry after 12 hours. Recoatable after 16 hours (minimum) and prior to 10 days (maximum). Mixed pot life: approximately 12-16 hours. PLEASE NOTE: The pot life of this product is 20 minutes. This means that once parts have been mixed, the paint will start to chemically cure after this time. Ensure you remove the paint from the tin in this window. The paint will then be workable on your floor for up to 40 minutes. The problem with self levellers is that they are generally used as base for laying carpet, wood, vinyl or tiles over, they are not usually strong enough to traffic directly, therefore if you paint them the leveller would break up taking the paint off with it. Also, paint doesn't tend to bond that well to self levellers - sorry to be the bearer of bad news! If you think you may have gotten the ratios wrong then there are a few ways to figure it out by the issues you’re having with the finish. floorsaver Epoxy Floor Paint is a two part epoxy resin supplied as a tin of resin and a tin of curing agent. Once the contents of the two tins have been mixed together, a reaction takes place which causes the product to cure. This means that one 2.5L tin can’t be used for 2 coats. It will cover 15m² with one coat, but if you have for example, 7.5m², you can’t use half the 2.5L tin for the first coat, then wait for the first coat to dry before using the other half for the second coat – it will have gone off in the tin, so select two of these if you want to apply 2 coats to an area of up to 15m². If you have any questions please let us know. Two coats of Resincoat HB Epoxy Garage Floor Paint can provide the equivalent of ten coats of conventional coatings containing solvent or water based epoxy products. Our floor paint is the perfect choice for your garage or car service centre as it is oil tolerant as well as being resistant to any other automotive fluid that would ruin standard paints. As dictated by normal good painting practice. Do not apply if the temperature is likely to drop below 10°C during application or during the drying process. In confined spaces provide adequate ventilation during application and drying. Colours are sold in the nearest tin size but actual paint volume per tin may vary up to 10% depending on colour The winner of our June #showusyourproject competition is a local flooring specialist, @purtfloor of Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent. I am afraid i would recommend finding a DPM product to apply first. This can be an epoxy damp proof membrane or paintable style coating rather than a traditional DPM system. Provided our water based epoxy coating can be painted on top, this woud still be a very practical solution. Slip resistance can be enhanced by incorporating our medium grade anti-slip aggregateadditive into the system. Scatter the aggregate onto the wet first coat, this should be allowed to dry, then the loose particles brushed away before applying the second coat. The right choice for garage floors as it'll stand up to hot tyres and resist automotive fluids and chemicals that ruin ordinary paint. Safe and easy to use, virtually solvent free (extremely low VOC) for hygienic areas. The datasheets not only give you instructions on how best to use and apply the products, but they also give crucial information about mixing two components. The three main things to look for are: the length of time recommended to mix the product; the potlife after mixing the two components; and also whether or not an induction time is needed. Mixing the product: Usually the pot life is only a couple of hours, so make sure you are ready to do the work before you mix the components together. For greasy floors with heavy oil residue clean thoroughly using a suitable degreaser scraping off any dust or dirt and then prime with Resincoat Oil Tolerant Primer I would wish to have a Matt finish or low sheen but not gloss. Thank you. I look forward to your guidance.
