About this deal

Touchscreen control – A simple-to-use, full colour touchscreen with one-touch preset functions to take care of all sorts of tasks – just swipe to find the function you need. Powerful 1400W motor – With the power to mix the heaviest pastry or bread dough with ease, the hard-working motor can also power an impressive variety of slow, medium and high-speed Kenwood attachments when they’re fixed to the outlet hubs – making your stand mixer into a multi-talented, all-in-one machine.

Results of functions: We looked for machines that efficiently and evenly mixed ingredients. Our meringue needed to be glossy and evenly whisked, our dough well-risen with a light and airy crumb when baked, and our cake also needed to be light with evenly distributed zest.Weight: If you haven't got space to keep your stand mixer out on the kitchen counter, you’ll need to make sure that your chosen one isn’t too heavy for you to transport. Most stand mixers weigh between 7kg and 10kg. But, a light stand mixer is not always a good thing. Heavier stand mixers remain more stable on the kitchen counter, which is essential if you’re kneading heavy bread doughs or mixing large quantities on high speed. Generous capacity – With a sleek, brushed stainless steel finish, the deep 7 litre stainless steel bowl is bigger than most, so it can take on the biggest baking prep tasks. Just like those seen in professional kitchens, the Kenwood Chef Titanium has the capacity – and power – to prepare enough dough to make several loaves of bread in one go. You can mix a huge 4.55kg of cake ingredients, up to 910g of pastry, 2.5kg dough at a time or fluff up to 16 egg whites at once – that’s certainly a lot of tasty home baking; your oven will never have worked so hard! And, of course, there’s also a smaller bowl for times when you don’t need to mix up quite so much in one go. Countdown timer – Counts down from your chosen time so you can mix recipes with precision. The display shows hours, minutes and seconds, up to a maximum of 8 hours. Capacity: like batch baking for cake sales? You’ll need a larger bowl capacity and perhaps a more powerful mechanism that will plough through larger volumes of mixture. Buy the biggest machine you can afford that will fit in your kitchen. Creaming beater – with a removable flexible blade each side, it creams ingredients and scrapes the side of the bowl as it works, so not a grain of sugar or flour can escape the mix.

Stainless steel balloon whisk – A super-sturdy balloon-shaped, wire whisk for beating eggs, cream and soufflés into light-as-air mixtures. Then there are all the additional attachments you can buy to turn your stand mixer into a true kitchen multi-tasker; expanding its capabilities far beyond the world of baking and doing away with the need to have a cupboard stuffed full of different gadgets and appliances. From pasta makers and juicers, blenders and graters, slicers and choppers, mincers and spiralizers; there is basically an attachment for every kind of dish. You can find out more about our range of attachments and how you can customise your stand mixer here. litre stainless steel bowl – a huge stainless steel mixing bowl with room inside to blend up to 5 kilos of enriched yeasted dough at a time (2.6kg flour) – working capacity 5.5 litre. Please note: the slow speed outlet is compatible with Kenwood accessories with a KAX prefix to their model number. Bar Connection attachments can be used with an adaptor – available from Kenwood. Intuitive features to look out for include a soft-start speed control and splash guard to prevent splatters and spills, delicate fold function to ensure a light and even mix and integrated in-bowl illumination so you can see exactly what’s happening in the bowl. Models like the Titanium Chef Patissier XL, Cooking Chef XL and the Titanium Chef Baker have built-in weighing scales so you can measure ingredients directly into the mixing bowl as you go for minimal mess and washing up. Then there’s models that can gently warm ingredients ( Titanium Chef Patissier XL) so you can also use them to temper chocolate or prove dough, or even cook a meal from scratch, like the Cooking Chef XL. Some of our models offer touchscreen functionality, with a range of easy to use preset functions making tasks such as meringue making or dough kneading available at just the tap of your finger, and you can even send step by step recipe instructions direct to the Cooking Chef XL via the Kenwood World app. Processor versatility: Stand mixers should take on key kitchen tasks that make life a lot easier. Whisking, beating and kneading attachments are key to this and we awarded extra points to machines that offer more integrated features, like weighing scales, timers and extra attachments.

Shatterproof splash guard with feed chute – so ingredients stay in the bowl rather than being spattered across your kitchen. Value for money: there’s no point splashing out on a gadget-y machine with various accessories if you’re only going to use it to occasionally make basic cakes. Stainless steel dough hook – for yeasted bread doughs, it kneads dough efficiently, taking all the hard work out of making bread, doughnuts and bagels. If you’d rather not set these levels manually, though, there are a number of automatic presets that can be accessed via the mixer’s touchscreen. These offer generic timings and warmth settings for a variety of tasks. Kenwood Titanium Chef Patissier XL review: What could be better?In-bowl illumination – Designed to ensure you can clearly see the colour, texture and consistency of your mixtures with ease while the ingredients are being mixed. The bowl warming function works well, too. It has nine warmth levels and can be used for all sorts of jobs, from proving dough to melting chocolate and even softening butter at its lower temperatures. Many premium stand mixers have clever features that are designed to not only help deliver the best results, but to make your life that much easier- speeding certain processes up or taking out some of the guesswork so that you can focus on other tasks. Ease of use and cleaning: Modern stand mixers can offer sophisticated features but being easy to use is incredibly important. Washing your stand mixer’s attachments by hand can also be a pain, so we looked for dishwasher-safe accessories to make cleaning less of a headache. In-bowl weighing – Weighing in metric or imperial to suit your recipes, this makes it easy to add ingredients straight into your mixer (and save on washing up). The weighing function can be used with the mixer head up or down, and you can zero the figure to add your next ingredient.In-bowl warming – With nine different heat settings it’s so helpful when you’re baking – from gently softening butter or proving bread dough, to melting chocolate or warming a delicate sabayon mixture.

Equipped with a warming function, countdown timer and with Quiet Mark certification, this quiet kitchen helper will even allow you to chat to a friend while it gets on with the hard work. If you are tight on storage space you might want to consider buying a more compact model. The Titanium Chef Baker or Chef series models are also available in standard as well as XL sizes, while the Prospero+ may be our smallest stand mixer, but its generous 4.3L bowl (big enough to make a batch of 36 cupcakes) and powerful 1000W motor means it is still more than up to rising to any baking challenge you throw at it. K-Beater – Perhaps Kenwood’s most famous mixing tool, it’s precision engineered from sturdy stainless steel to reach every part of the bowl while making mixes for cakes, biscuits, pastry and icing, and can even be used for making silky-smooth mashed potato, or combining fish cake mixes. Ask any serious home baker what’s on their kit wish list, and it’s a safe bet they’ll mention a Kenwood Chef. Built to stand the test of time and instantly recognisable with its iconic styling, the all-metal body has a titanium-coloured finish, ensuring it will make a statement on any kitchen worktop.

Some incredible features at fair price but this mixer falls down in one key area

Overall quality of materials: Stand mixers that are sturdy and built to stand the tests of time were ones that scored highly. We also looked for robust and well made attachments and bowls. Versatility: stand mixers can work hard with the right attachments, which include everything from pasta rollers to sausage makers. Study the number of bolt-on accessories available if you want to use your machine frequently for lots of kitchen tasks. A real workhorse, just like its forebears, Kenwood’s Patissier XL Chef Titanium Stand Mixer has been brought right into the 21st century with the addition of a touchscreen control panel, a weighing function and the ability to warm or melt ingredients as well as a recipe app that will guide you through any number of baking, cooking or mixing scenarios. So, you need never have a menu crisis again – your Titanium Chef will coach you through any eventuality you can think of. As useful as these presets are, though, they’re hindered by the fact the touchscreen is not always as responsive as it should be. On several occasions, I found myself having to swipe left and right on the screen more than one time before it would register. It seemed to be more responsive when using an index or middle finger but struggled with thumbs. Results of functions: A machine that efficiently mixed all the ingredients at the same time was a staple requirement. We looked for pavlova mixes that were glossy and well-whisked, cake mixes that were light with evenly distributed zest and finally, well-risen dough that was soft and light when baked.
