Westrup is masterful in writing messy female characters, and Viola stole my heart. She is dark and vengeful and just this beacon of strength and resilience, but she has also allowed her rage to blind her to her own faults. This book ended on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait for the next book. I need to know what happens with Sin and Wren. There were so, so many commas to the point of distraction. After a while, I was able to forget about it.

The grooming themes of the Queens relationship with the twins is very important and deeply unsettling to me and I like that the author did not romanticize this strange connection the Queen has with the twins every time it was brought up I felt disgusted wondering what went on between the three of them when they worked for the family I feel like this is a very large part of the reason the boys are so scared of having Presley and Aaron find out about the lengths in which the family will go to keep the queen happy. OH MY GOD is it bad. This book reads like a 2012 Wattled story that should have never even been up on that app. This story was so badly in need of an editor that I'm curious if it was written in the notes app - because some of these mistakes should have been fixed through Word or even having gramercy installed. As characters, Wren and Sin are flawed, but I continued rooting for them through all of the angst. Wren is a strong and sassy woman who you don’t want to cross, while Sin is legit SWOONY and complex as a morally grey character. I kid you not when I tell you that I was on the edge of my seat, waiting for them to get together and when they did... Friends are the heartbeat of our chosen family, intertwining lives with a connection as strong as blood.” Thank you to S.L Cokeley for providing me with a free eARC of This Blood that Burns Us in return for my honest opinion.Secondly! Wow. This one had me non stop reading all day—there is so very much pining and if you know me you know I’m a hoe for pining. BUT THE RELATIONSHIP PROGRESS!? Goodness it’s there. We even get a spicy scene 🥵 and some very saucy kisses. I’m just sayin—thank goodness they’re getting there ya know? My heart couldn’t take it 😂 Will the Calem boys ever be free from The Family? Or will the world they’ve built and the bonds they’ve made go up in flames? The world building in this book is absolutely phenomenal. At first, I was slightly confused, but that has nothing to do with the way it is written.

Every character was so well developed and it was the most enjoyable first in a series book I’ve read in years.

No, I'm not gonna kill ya. I wanna give you a gift." The man said, humor lacing his words the way a parent would speak to a child. A wave of curiosity pushed away the fear and his brow furrowed. To his left, a crow squawked.

In the story of life, friends are the characters who become family, writing their own chapters of support and love.” Romance? No. If you want a slow burn that burns so slow you don't get a kiss - even in the epilogue - then sure. But there is no actual romance or love in this story. She grabs his wrist and that's about it. Even their final "proclamation" of love is FILLED with the word "hypothetical," and I mean that literally. The depth of family bonds is measured not in distance, but in the warmth and comfort they bring to our hearts.” I know I am using capitalized words now, but this is a review, not a published book I'm selling to people under false promises for money. But that killed me throughout this book.Again like the first book this book comes across as very YA, the spice is just kissing. As a college/fraternity setting I was hoping for a little bit more than that.

The ending of this book 🤯 It has me on the edge of my seat and I cannot wait for The Bonds That Break Us! Hello! This was read as an ARC—thank you so much for this opportunity to review this as is was one of my most anticipated reads this year and it truly did not disappoint! I believe this is spoiler free just vibes so here we go 😊😊 You have somewhere to stay tonight?" She asked after a moment. He shrugged and offered a small smile, scooping his latest book into his bag. Always so curious, aren't you Wilbur." He shook his head fondly and Wilbur's jaw snapped shut. "Ah well, I've been around for a long time, you see, wandering this earth alone. But I'm tired now, and I want more," His eyes flashed a brilliant blood red, "More than an empty manor and quiet halls. More than I was destined to have on my own." He stopped and stared at Wilbur again, eyes once again hidden in the shadow.PDF / EPUB File Name: This_Blood_that_Binds_Us_-_SL_Cokeley.pdf, This_Blood_that_Binds_Us_-_SL_Cokeley.epub In fact, if there is one thing I think Cokeley NAILED in this novel, it is the pacing. The plot unravels at a very comfortable pace, the romance takes its time in the best way, and everything feels right in terms of the timing. Off topic, but if vampires can only be turned through The Family's blood, then how was William and the rest of his murderous anti-vampire squad turned? Their goal is to rid the planet of the evil of The Family but isn't the call coming from inside the house? It's also very possible in their monologuing toward the end I missed some explanation as I sped-read through it in the middle of Texas Roadhouse while waiting to be seated so I could mark this book as finished. Truthfully, Zach and Luke would've been more interesting if they had done some culty shit like it's hinted at, except the Calem brothers are all uwu boys who survive off their undefying brotherly love for one another so they can't outright do anything bad because it would take away from their golden retriever vibes. This just came to mind that I'm still confused about, but William mentioned that it was never Kimberly he was after, but rather Aaron and his brothers. I can accept this because as far as interesting main characters go, there isn't anything about Kimberly that would make William go feral over ala Bella Swan and James. But if that's true, then why would he bite her after the frat party without taking any blood, then proceed to steal her purse? I feel like that Charlie Day meme from It's Always Sunny as I try to make sense of these plot points that just make no sense.
