About this deal

The project just took off with a cast and crew totally committed and supportive. It was such a privilege to work with such a talented group of people,” Joffe says. THE MAN WHO SUED GOD is a film about the universal experience of hypocrisy and injustice fought by an ordinary person who takes on the corporate sharks. Joffe says he found the end song for the film, accompanying the doubles in the boat, a song made popular by the Staples singers. Judy Davisas crusading journalist and eccentric Anna Redmond: Judy Davis’s wiki listing here is also detailed.

Later he notes that unlike some performers, who can deliver the same performance with regularity, both Davis and Connolly were inclined to offer variations, something a little bit different every time, so he had to have his wits about him to get it.A theological romantic comedy drama with a courtroom showdown conclusion, The Man Who Sued God is a hard film to categorise. It's also a hard film not to like, since its so-absurd-it-could-be-true story about a man who decides to sue Him Upstairs for damages is nicely played by all concerned. Another year was spent developing the script with considerable input from Billy and Judy. “They both contributed an enormous amount to the screenplay - I’d say a lot more than actors normally would in the development of a screenplay - and I think that Mark would agree that their input has been absolutely invaluable. The Man Who Sued God

We needed somebody who could deal with the comedic element of the film, which was critical to making the film work, but who was a good actor and also the right age. We have to have somebody who had life experience behind them. I loved the title of the film and the basic premise, but I did feel there were bits about the script that were too cutesy pie for me - a bit too nice guy and comfy. I had a meeting with Mark in Lose Angeles, who was delighted that I was interested, and brought Judy with him. I don’t think she said anything to me at all, but I was deeply impressed because I’ve loved her work for a long time and she was such a star,” he explains. Judy Davis’s apartment was filmed on location in Surry Hills, an inner city suburb (ironically where media giant News Corp is also located, though the production went with the 7-Fairfax connection). A typical example might be cited about 43 and a half minutes in, when Watson references a line originally along the lines of the dog barks and the caravan moves on. Watson preferred “the camels moan”...
