About this deal

Which means if I’m to keep up appearances, I’ll have to escape the ship. Then get caught on purpose. Oh, the ridiculous things one has to do when one is a pirate. What the hell was with that passage? Was it supposed to be romantic because it wasn't. The only thing that it managed to do was make me mad. Riden doesn’t return to the room until late, thinking she’s already asleep. He can tell she wants him to go to sleep, which makes him suspicious. She finally has to sing her siren song to make him obey. She learns what he wants in life is love and acceptance. Then she makes him forget it all happened. Alosa feels a burn in her chest and needs to be replenished. Only the ocean can do it. And then it always tries to get her to give in to it, which she can’t risk right now. She’s mostly human, but her mother was a siren.

This book was even better than the first one. It was still super cool, funny and exciting, but now it had an even faster pacing and we get into more depth with the characters and relationships. The plot was boring for the most part. The main character found herself in so many stupid situations, I was laughing because of how badly the whole plotline was executed. Make. It. More. Realistic. Thank. You. There's no way anyone, not even someone in a YA fantasy book, could have found themselves doing the things Alosa did because that just not something a normal person does. You figured it out,” he says, obviously referring to his identity, which he’d initially lied about. When I was a prisoner on the Night Farer, he had pretended to be one of my father’s men and had gone by the name Theris.this review is posted now!! which is good b/c i definitely haven't hit my talking-about-how-much-i-hate-this-book quota. find it here: https://emmareadstoomuch.wordpress.co... Hold the line, I command. They rotate instantly, turning their swords on their own men. To my girls, I shout, “Unload the extra gunpowder for your pistols onto the stairs.” Deserters. They’re the most cowardly filth. They deserve whatever fate comes to them. Whether they tire and drown or get claimed by the sea life.

Alosa knows her father will be furious and is worried what her punishment will be. She has now searched the entire ship. Then it it hits her…She hasn’t searched the outside of the ship. She realizes the siren statue at the stern would be an excellent hiding place. She sneaks there and lowers herself down with a rope. She finds the map hidden in a glass eye of the woman. Her old enemies are now her captives and she feels successful having gathered the pieces of the map leading to the treasure of the Isla de Canta When she makes it to land, she feels like she’s being trailed. It’s three girls from her ship. They’ve been following Draxen’s ship the whole time to make sure she’s safe. She sends them away with a message for her father. They cut her down that evening. Riden carries her to his room. He treats her wounds and apologizes. They mouth each other for serving the men they do. He says he has a good reason for serving Draxen as he does. He asks Alosa to not be so stubborn so he can try to protect her. She spends another night sleeping beside him.First, can we talk about how refreshing it was to have a female character that wasn't all afraid to kill someone? I'm honestly tired of characters saying they are "assassins" even though they never kill anyone. Alosa was not like that. When she killed those men without flinching I was like DANG GIRL. I LIKE YOU. Ha-ha, now in real life please realize I would not react this way if I saw a murder taking place - but because this was a book character, I loved it. I catch the pirate before his corpse hits the ground and gently lower him the rest of the way. He is only the first of Theris's - no, Vordan's, I remind myself - crew who will die tonight Oh boy. Daughter of the Pirate King fulfils all promises and more. This is definitely one of my best reads in 2017. Of course, I couldn’t make my capture look too easy. I had a part to play. Draxen and his crew can’t suspect me. Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map―the key to a legendary treasure trove―seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship.

Daughter of the Siren Queen takes place a few months after the end of Daughter of the Pirate King, as Alosa and her crew, set sails towards Isla de Canta, the island of the mermaids. After betraying her father, Alose sees no other solution than to acquire a fortune big enough to defeat the Pirate King, and buy the loyalty of his men as a pirate is usually loyal to the richest. I could have unhappily dealt with that if there were any chemistry between the two characters. Even if the characters had a single redeeming factor!!! But no. Because not only do we have Alosa, who is to busy telling-not-showing her amazing powers and genius intellect and next-level swordfighting abilities……..we also have Riden. His eyes fly open, and I press the knife in a little deeper, just enough to slice the skin but not enough to make him bleed. To be the siren is to never be afraid. To never hunger or thirst. Never doubt or worry. Never fear." Another small issue I had were with some of the characters. Not Riden, Alosa or the Pirate King…rather, with the “lesser” characters. Those I didn’t like too much because we never get to know them well enough. They felt too filler-like and one-dimensional. And because of that I didn’t care if they lived or died.
