About this deal

Thayer and Salem’s relationship started out as this professional neighbor relationship that grew into friendship and slowly turned into something more. It was unexpected and slow moving but their attraction was explosive and you felt it when they were close to each other. But with an age gap and Thayer being a newly divorced single dad, what does that mean for their future relationship? Will they finally give into Temptation?

One thing to mention, Salem is in a relationship when she meets Thayer so I wasn’t a fan of the “love triangle” aspect but that is more of a personal choice.

The Confidence of Wildflowers Book PDF Summary

If I’m be honest, this story didn’t go at all how I thought it would. Book one ended in so much heartbreak, and book 2 fixes all of that. This story focus’ more on the growth of the characters. Seeing the characters finally get to be happy. There are still some triggers in book 2 but not nearly as heartbreaking. The love-story itself was... just no? There was no spark (hell, there wasn’t even a little microscopic twinge), no chemistry, and the whole plot was just a succession of embarrassing moments and equally embarrassing dialogues (and actually unspeakably embarrassing thoughts from our brilliant contradiction of a MC). And it was just so BORING. Gah. Salem named their daughter Seda, and it means ''spirit of the forest'' an homage to Forrest. I loved that she did not keep Thayer and Forrest's existence from Seda and had her understanding what happened and why they were not around. Salem has stayed away for years - concentrating on raising her daughter. She married and divorced her high school bf (Caleb) who stepped up to be the father her child needed and to be a husband Salem could have gotten if she had never met Thayer. god I hated this. She did NOTHING. Both Caleb and Thayer constantly doing things to show how they care for her. What did she do? NOTHING.

That is a huge trigger for me personally but that's not the reason I gave this 1 star. Here are more reasons: The beginning was very slow. The real story truly starts at like 30% mark, other than that you just get to know Salem a little bit better. One thing after another came at our FMC that kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for the other shoe to drop. And when it inevitably did, I never saw it coming. The supporting characters- Caleb, Lauren and Salem's family are quite one dimensional. Caleb's personality is just loving Salem and being a mama's boy, there's literally nothing more to him. Lauren is described as quirky but there's no story to her, no life to her. Salem's mother and sisters though play a very important role in her life, not much of them is shown. Salem's response to the tragedy at the end of this book was so off. I could not understand her rationale at all. It boggles the mind and that's not even taking into consideration the very last bomb dropped as the cliffhanger. There was sadness through some part of the book, but in the end everything was alright. Their love was just epic. I am glad that somehow Thayer was the instigator of the love this time and that he decided to be happy once one for all. After all Salem was his one and true love. My guy then goes on to say, "I'm not bright like you, but I promise, when your days are dark, I'll be your light." 😭😭❤️

Thayer and Salem spend most of this book fixing what was broken and reconnecting. They never fell out of love. To me her marrying Caleb and spending years away from Thayer was in a way needed? She needed to grow up and have experiences that he so desperately wanted her to have and why he pushed her away. They both met each other again with a bigger understanding that their love was the ultimate one and they needed to never let go. There was no point of this book, it could've easily been an epilogue in the first one. It honestly felt like the author didn't have any heart in writing this. It's so mediocre. A note on the cheating: I will admit. I felt a little bad for Caleb...but in the same way that Caleb understood why she cheated, I also understood it. I know there will be some readers that view this as a huge NO, but please don't discount this book because of that. Micalea Smeltzer’s writing style seamlessly navigates the highs and lows of the characters’ emotions, delivering a rollercoaster of feelings to the reader. At times somber, at others sweet and swoony, the chemistry between Salem and Thayer is portrayed with poetic precision. Their connection feels authentic and soul-deep, making it impossible not to be emotionally invested in their love story. Coming to the plot; it starts off with a new neighbour moving in- Thayer Holmes, 31 years of age, the single dad to a precious boy (you immediately adore)and he's divorced and the love interest. Salem (our main character) is 18, goes off to introduce herself to Thayer and kinda forcefully. The two warm up to each other in coming days.Although, this reluctance I feel towards reading Caleb's story (if he ever gets one) stems from the fact that, as much as I dislike a character who is a pushover, someone who settles for being a consolation prize, Caleb's decision to marry Salem and everything else places him in that category in my eyes. But hey, at least he didn't cheat on his deserving girlfriend.
