About this deal

It is perfect to seal in your serums or actives, perfect to pair with acid treatments because this is so gentle and basic Madecassoside : Derivative of Centella Asiatica Extract : Wound healing + hypertrophic scar healing properties + promotes collagen production (Acts as an Antioxidant). - Madecassoside can also help in burn wound healing through increasing antioxidant activity and enhancing collagen synthesis. I have to admit, I have not tried the previous formulation as there were two ingredients that are irritating for some, and me being one of them made me avoid it. In the previous formulation the Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream had Bitter Orange (essential oil) and Shea Butter , both ingredients can be irritating for certain skin types. Personally, my face does not like Shea Butter as I will break out the next day. So I am extremely happy they have removed these two ingredients, removing the shea butter may have possibly changed the texture but this one has a luxurious rich creamy gel texture. They also added more gentle and soothing skin ingredients, such as Allantoin a soothing and protecting ingredient, Green Tea a soothing antioxidant and Glucose (humectant). All these changes make this moisturizer less irritating and a really great choice for sensitive skin types. Needless to say I much prefer this updated formula. The Etude House SoonJung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream uses 93% naturally derived ingredients and as few ingredients as possible to balance, hydrate, and soothe skin. It has been tested to be non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog pores), and hypoallergenic.

As a result, those who find them problematic are avoiding them and increasingly, cosmetic companies are avoiding them as well.

It is in no way a perfect identifier nor a predictor in whether or not it will exacerbate or cause fungal acne. It will continue to be worked on as more information and research comes to light.

Additionally, products that may contain ingredients that have shown to feed Malassezia may not neccessarily exacerbate the condition due to concentration of ingredient used in the product, this information is simply not available on the products. Personally I have been really happy using the Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream! I find it very soothing especially when my skin is reactive or sensitive after exfoliating and doesn’t cause my acne prone face to breakout. I’ve also found this works great under makeup and as a primer, there is no pilling at all. It can take a couple of minutes to fully absorb which I am ok with. I would have liked a pump bottle as I don’t really like using products in jars, (I worry too much about germs getting in the products) but clearly it's not a deal breaker for me as I am on my third jar. There has been some healthy controversy surrounding them due to a few studies finding paraben presence in breast tumours and breast tissue. However, the majority of the scientific community have deemed these findings non-conclusive due to the limitations of these studies.
