After all, lots of shows have nice ideas and good actors, but very few of them ignite the nation’s interest to such a degree that two characters get to make a number one single with Tom Jones, while another gets to coach the England football team in a Comic Relief sketch. This is a show that almost everybody seemed to love, and I think a big part of that is the human drama at its core. He loves Gavin's family more than his own who are rarely seen on the show. His sister is Rudi Smith and his mum is Catherine Smith. Doris regularly dates younger men, even offering herself up to Gavin for "discreet" extramarital relations, and is described by Bryn as "a player". She has a daughter named Moira, whom she loathes and would like to "smother" if she saw her again. Gwen even goes so far as to say "she was a nasty piece of work". It is Doris who mentions the unfortunate coincidence of Gavin and Stacey sharing the West and Shipman surnames with serial murderers Fred and Rose West and Harold Shipman. With 21 episodes across three series and two Christmas specials, some feel that Corden and Jones’ show bowed out too early. The show rounded off in near-perfect style as Nessa ditched her wedding to Dave the Coach and decided to make a go of it with Smithy. Ah, Stacey is finally pregnant, having taken 34 pregnancy tests "just to make sure". This is not necessarily unlikely as I neither know nor care about the motility of Gavin's sperm, but it would have been nice for that particularly storyline not to have ended quite so tidily. Happy ever after can have the odd bump in the road, no? Smithy/Nessa update Glorified extras. Including Budgie and Fingers in this dump, even if they are fit. Essential but I don’t really like them tier Gavin
