About this deal

Where the Orion intelliscope really excels is the computerized object locator that gives users easy access to over 14,000 different and equally fascinating celestial objects. So instead of having to spread around charts looking for any signs of light up there, the intelliscope makes things a whole lot easier by giving you something new to look at every night. Flaws But Not Deal Breakers Lastly, a narrowband Ultra High Contrast (UHC)/ OIII nebula filter can significantly improve your views of nebulae, such as the Orion Nebula, when using almost any telescope, including the Heritage 150P. This filter also enhances the visibility of planetary nebulae by reducing the brightness of surrounding stars, making it easier for you to locate them at low power. Furthermore, it provides enough contrast improvement to reveal previously invisible targets, such as the Crab Nebula and Veil Nebula supernova remnants, when using this telescope under dark skies. What can you see with the Skywatcher Heritage 150P? The Skyliner 200 P boasts of some sharp optics across 80% of the 1 degree field of view. The optics are diffraction limited and the manufacturer incorporated a telescopic focus length of 1200mm. At the same time, gazers get a highest practical power potential of x406. As for the mount, it consists of an easy to set up and use box that pivots in altitude and rotates at the base in azimuth. What It Does Best The Sky-Watcher Heritage 100P is a 100mm (3.93”) f/4 Newtonian reflector with a 400mm focal length. Compared to a small refractor, this scope has quite a bit more light-gathering and resolving power, as well as no chromatic aberration, since it is of course a reflector. However, you do not get nearly as much light-gathering power as a 114mm, 130mm or larger Dobsonian with this telescope and those instruments will perform at least a little bit better on high-resolution targets like the Moon, planets, and double stars as well. One of the biggest gripes that puts beginner astronomers off getting out and observing the night sky is the prospect of setting everything up.

A red-dot finder is a reasonable choice for a telescope of this size as it is simple to use and quite lightweight. However, it felt as if it was in the way when using the focuser, and when the telescope was pointed vertically it was not easy to look up through the finder. Eyepieces One trend I noticed with the SkyLiner 200 P Parabolic Sky Watcher telescope is that almost every newbie astronomer couldn’t stop gloating about how wonderful the telescope was. Beginner stargazers love the model because not only is it super easy to use and set up, but it offers great cost savings as well. More experienced consumers had a few things to add, but all in all, everyone was satisfied with the power capabilities of the 200 P. Should You Buy It? The Heritage 150P attaches to its tabletop Dobsonian mount with a standard Vixen-style dovetail bar bolted directly to the lower half of the tube. Thus, you could theoretically put the telescope on another mount, but it’s possible this could result in the focuser/eyepiece being located in an awkward position. Accessories The Bresser Messier 6” f/8 Planetary Dobsonian has a narrower field than the 150P, thanks to its f/8 focal ratio, though this is somewhat compensated for by its hefty 2” Crayford focuser. The main advantage of the XT6 is that it stands flat on the ground without additional support or elevation, though it’s significantly less compact, lightweight, or portable than a tabletop instrument of similar aperture like the Sky-Watcher Heritage telescopes. Sky-Watcher’s own 6” Classic also works pretty well and shares the XT6’s basic design and features, but has inferior bearings and a mediocre focuser. At Rother Valley Optics, one thing we pride ourselves on is customer service and quality of our equipment. When we test your telescope, we will ensure that it is of the highest quality otherwise, we will reject the scope under our strict quality control and test another model for your peace of mind. One of the main values to look at when testing a refractor is the Strehl ratio. The higher this number, the higher quality lens you have. At Rother Valley Optics, we will guarantee the highest possible Strehl ratio for your telescope. We will aim to provide 0.95 Strehl or higher on Takahashi, RVO Horizon, William Optics and many more! Generally, the higher the Strehl ratio, the lower the Astigmatism and Coma meaning a better image quality from your instrument.

The 26mm eyepiece provides just over 2.5º field of view, so even relatively large star clusters like the Beehive Cluster fit nicely.

Neptune is little more than a fuzzy bluish “star” with the Heritage 150P, but you can see its moon Triton without too much trouble; it’s a full magnitude brighter than Uranus’ moons. Pluto is just barely visible with the Heritage 150P at a similar brightness to the brighter moons of Uranus, but it is hidden among a field of thousands of similarly-dim stars in the constellation of Sagittarius for the foreseeable future and will require careful searching and observations spaced at least a few days apart to be sure. You can also see bright asteroids like Ceres and Vesta fairly easily with the Heritage 150P, though they will be little more than gray or yellowish points of light, far too small to actually resolve. We observed the Perseus Double Cluster using the 25mm and found it sparkled and stood out beautifully, while the 10mm gave us a closer look at the pair. The Sky-Watcher Heritage 150P is essentially a scaled-up 130P, and differs little apart from the performance boost from its extra inch of aperture. A computerized version of the 150P is available as the Virtuoso 150P GTi. SynScan App's Other Features: Tonight's Best Sky Tour, Point and Go with a mobile device, Identification of Celestial Objects, Remote control over the Internet, User defined objects, Pointing Accuracy Enhancement (PAE) To attach to its provided mount or any astronomical mount or tripod, the Heritage 100P features a metal Vixen-style dovetail bar attached to the side of the tube, allowing it to be attached and removed from a mount without any tools or adapters.
