Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981) was directed by Steven Spielberg whilst the story comes from George Lucas / Philip Kaufman. around. Needless to say he lives a fast-paced life, risking life and limb in the name of the next find and adding to the museum's extensive

The story introduced the world to Harrison Ford's inimitable Indiana Jones, a college professor who moonlights as a tomb-raiding archaeologist, and who crosses paths with some Nazis in a race to find the potentially all-powerful Ark of the Covenant. Initially coming from just a sketch of scenes by Lucas and Spielberg, who had no script to tie them together, the end result is indeed a succession of memorable set pieces - not least the fabulous opening sequence, which has to be one of the greatest scenes of all time. This oversight has taken what should have been a noteworthy upgrade and made it questionable for fans that have reveled in its attributes. My Atmos rating system doesn’t have a parameter that takes low frequency effects into account so this will be reflected under the Entertainment Factor rating parameter. Do yourself a favor and make sure your TV is set to movie mode instead of Dynamic or Sports, otherwise, the colors may be too exaggerated. It would seem most directors would like their films shown in as realistic colors as possible. Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is a must-own for home theater buffs. This movie is true to the action drama and the 4k HDR Atmos presentation makes it even more like reliving the experience in theaters. However, even without the HDR and Atmos qualities, the 2160p resolution provides a great viewing experience and 7-channel audio slightly more immersive. The details in the antiquities Indy comes across, the scenery in Cairo, and, the overall quality of the picture are really worth the 4k upgrade. Scores

Ford's unshaven often pretty damn sweaty look, perfectly shaped hat and weathered clothing are all wondrously observed, along with the richly textured sets and locations, Tunisia standing out. The intricacy and design of some of them is exceptionally well realised here, as veritable grains of sand come to the fore. This new Paramount Pictures release comes with both 4K UHD + Blu-ray discs included. SPECIAL FEATURES The movie also furthered the ambitions of George Lucas who wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark and whose company Lucasfilm Ltd. produced the movie. In addition, composer John Williams wrote the memorable score for ‘Raiders’ after having worked with Spielberg on Jaws and Close Encounters of the Third Kind and with Lucas on the Star Wars franchise. With those three guys working on ‘Raiders’ how could you go wrong? So many elements came together seamlessly to make this a landmark film. The direction is deft and efficient, with all of Spielberg’s trademark style and flair in evidence, but with little in the way of overindulgence. The pacing is brisk, but not too brisk—not modern, but definitely a new gear for action-adventure films of the period. The cast is perfect across the board, with Harrison Ford coming fully into his own here. He carries the story with an effortlessness that belays how hard he’s actually working. The stunt work is superb, the set pieces are satisfying, the costuming and period production design are pitch perfect. The script is wry, funny, and honest by turns, and always engaging. There are certainly some cultural depictions of their time, but then that’s how creative works are. Still the film has aged beautifully. And John Williams’ iconic score—arguably his best work apart from Star Wars—lends everything a certain kind of magic, gravitas, and energy... and even a bit of whimsy. This is an unquestionably great film, and one that’s withstood the test of time. The video has an undisturbed and visibly grainy texture that occasionally takes on more emphasis but, I never found it bothersome. Other than a hand full of shots where innate softening creeps in this video rendering looks solid.
