About this deal

Before getting the Domke straps I used to use neoprene straps, but the camera bounces a little too much for my taste when using the neoprene strap. As far as I’m concerned, the Capture Clip could be used wherever you can imagine using it. As long as there is a place the metal plates can grab on tightly, it can be used to mount your camera. There are two main locations that I’ve seen photographers attach the Capture Clip to their belt: at their hip and at the inside of their leg. 2.1. Belt-Mounted at the Hip The straps: the broad one (Tallac) is stiff and slippery. Looks nice in blue. On a wall because on a camera it's useless. Now they refined it again... The idea of banging my camera or lens on a table or door frame is most unsettling. I like to know my gear is protected from the outset, so I don’t use this location for attaching my camera to a belt. Pro Pad: The Pro Pad wraps around a belt and acts as an expanded padded surface for the Capture Clip to attach to, increasing comfort and stability when attaching large or heavy gear. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1169303-REG/peak_design_sll_1_slide_camera_sling_strap_lite.html This option eliminates the sideways extension at the hip issue. By positioning the Capture Clip just inside either leg, one’s camera becomes easily accessible with less fear of damage. I also find that because the lens isn’t off to either side, walking movements are largely unimpeded. This is often how I use the Capture Clip, at least when my camera is light enough that it’s not uncomfortable to attach it to my belt in the first place. The Capture Clip has two metal layers that are connected by two semi-permanent thumb drive bolts. When you unscrew the bolts, the outer layer of the clip swings upward. If you’re using smaller prime lenses, consider putting your camera on vertically as well. This will make it so the weight is pointed down, keeping the camera much more secure.

It's now the third generation of this device. Why are they doing their R&D at the cost of customers? Okay, basically all R&D departments are not working for free, but some come to market with finished products. Examples? Holding the Capture Clip in your hands will give you an appreciation of its metal construction. You’ll be entrusting it with your expensive camera, so you’ll want to have a good impression of its strength despite the clip’s relatively small size. The aluminum assembly and included plate are well-crafted, and twisting them didn’t produce any worrying creaks or unnecessary flex. Peak Design Capture Clip | Material and color The holster look of the Capture Clip is also professional looking, though; this difference is subjective. It doesn’t stand out as much, which can be good or bad depending on how you want to look for the event. the Capture Clip is also a smaller piece of gear to stow, transport, and think about.gets you the Capture Clip, an Arca-compatible plate, x2 hand-drive screws, x2 4mm hex screws (not shown), a hex wrench and a microfiber pouch for storage. The first time we used the Capture Clip, the experience of having our Sony A6500 front-mounted on our shoulder strap was a weird one—at first. We were conscious of the sensation and weight of a camera hanging off in front of us. Not to mention that we needed to remove our camera whenever we put our bag down, or else we risk the bag falling over camera-first.

It makes sense: Engineering anything that is load-bearing should incorporate multiple factors of safety. In other words, you never design something to carry the exact weight you need. You want multiple times higher capacity. The strength rating is reassuring in this respect. In all my use of this product, it has never failed, and I’ve never sensed that it might. I’ve learned to trust it, which is an important feeling to have for equipment like this. I use a Sony A6000 mirrorless camera which is smaller than most full-frame DSLR cameras, but Peak Design claim the clip will work well with “the largest of professional cameras.” In fact they say it can withstand well over 90kg (200lbs). With my heaviest lens, my camera weighs 830g. I actually find it more stable when it’s heavier as it bounces around less. The Peak Design Everyday Sling v2 is an excellent example, providing a secure, chic and comfortable means of carrying camera gear. It’s perfect for city-breaks and day trips, with waterproof lining and thief-deterring zippers. I don’t think Peak Design has ever advocated for strapping your heaviest lens to your chest and hiking for miles and miles on end with it. If you did need to carry a heavy lens or camera for a considerable period of time, you can easily do your best cowboy impression and clip the Capture Clip to your belt instead, which would certainly be easier on your body than my dumb decision. The Capture Clip, when used on the belt, can provide a super-stable lens changing platform. Simply put the camera on vertically (it’ll look “sideways”). The Capture Clip will hold it in place perfectly for your lens change.https://www.kagecollective.com/kage-stories/2016/5/12/review-domke-1-gripper-strap-with-swivel-the-little-strap-that-could Similarly, the metal plate’s low profile is awesome—you hardly notice it when you’re holding on to your camera and I love that it’s already compatible with Arca tripods (including Peak Design’s!). Comfort Listen, one of my favorite things about using the Capture Clip is that I feel like A Real Photographer™ whilst wearing my camera strapped proudly to my chest. Bino (Binoculars) Kit: A standard plate with curved metal extension designed to attach to the bridge between binocular optics. Allows for the mounting of binoculars on the Capture Clip or a tripod.
