As lawn feeds go, this product is especially fast-acting. Results are often visible even sooner than the ‘5 days’ quoted by Miracle-Gro. That said, there are cases where this product hasn’t worked for everyone. Whether that’s due to grass type or weather conditions, results can vary lawn to lawn. Neither children nor pets need to be kept off the grass after using this fertiliser, meaning there’s no inconvenience of having to choose a suitable time when they’re not around, and it can be applied easily using fertiliser trollies or hand shakers. Unlike some other fertilisers, there is also no odour emitted by these granules, creating a more pleasant garden atmosphere.

Liquid lawn feed is perfect for smaller gardens or those with no hose, and it can be reapplied every six weeks throughout the summer. As this is purely a lawn feed it won’t kill off weeds or moss, so it can be used in combination with another feed. A 1-litre bottle of Miracle-Gro Evergreen should cover 100m² of your grass. The feed also contains extra iron from sustainably harvested kelp extract. In mid-spring (late March to April), when the soil is moist or when rain is expected, you can feed your lawn with a product that contains weed and moss control. It will kill off any moss that’s grown over winter, and help accelerate grass growth after the cold months. Once the weeds are under control, it’s fine to use a lawn feed that solely feeds the grass. Certain versatile lawn feeds can be used for different functions depending on when they’re applied: for example, when applied between September and November the Miracle-Gro EverGreen Premium Plus Lawn Food restores the lawn after the harsh summer and prepares it for the stresses of winter. Similarly, applying it in March helps negate the damaging effects of a cold winter. The powder simply needs to be diluted in a watering can for application. Either this, or it can be used with the Miracle-Gro Feeder hose attachment which needs to be bought separately – the attachment connects to your hose and allows the powder to be mixed with water as it comes out. Both methods work to create an even application of the product.For example, the Miracle-Gro Water Soluble Lawn Food will cover up to 400 m², whilst the Vitax Green Up Liquid Lawn Feed will cover 200 m², and the EverGreen Miracle-Gro Complete 4-in-1 Food 100 m². For the best results, MOOWY claims this fertiliser should be used regularly every six to eight weeks, along with mowing your lawn every week. That said, the high nitrogen content makes us a little cautious when using this product on young or recently sown lawns. You can use it all year round if desired, but be careful where you open the tub – some customers have mentioned that accidental spillages inside the house left rust-like stains.
