The Lime Trail is one of the shorter walks through Epping Forest and begins in Wanstead, which is easily accessible by bus and several train stations. Of the seven Essex County Councillors elected for Epping Forest divisions in the most recent county council elections in 2021, six are from the Conservative Party, and one is from Loughton Residents Association. It lies on a ridge between the valleys of the rivers Lea and Roding.
