The Third tab down in the management interface is the controls tab. There is a little to see here, but you can control the power states of the entire UPS and each outlet group. In Li-ion batteries, the ‘cathode’ is usually a metal oxide, while the anode is usually porous carbon graphite. Both are immersed in a liquid electrolyte made of lithium salt and organic solvent.VPM allows the remote monitoring of the power of up to thousands of PDU and UPS device. This is done through an intuitive GUI. VPM is vendor agnostic. The software alerts for when devices need to be replaced proactively versus reactively. And VPM can deliver real-time analytics so admins know what is going on with power in their facility. Charge and Recharge Efficiency: N1C Lithium Ion batteries can be charged/ discharged over 1000 times versus 200-400 charges/ discharges for standard VRLA batteries. N1C Lithium UPS units include built in chargers capable of 1-hour recharge times, compared to 4-10 hour recharge times of VRLA battery UPS systems.

As usual, we found the 9PX to be easy to set up and get going. Unbox it, get it a power supply, plug in what we want to be protected, and we were good to go. While there are several management options, we had the network card and that was the easiest method to get management up and going. Truth be told, the 9PX would be fine without these on a one-off basis. That said, for IT admins managing larger Eaton deployments, the variety of management software does add a lot of value when it comes to visualizing and proactively managing these environments. Samsung SDI is one of the most experienced producers of lithium-ion batteries in the world and has a long record of safely supplying systems for use in critical power systems.Flipping it around, on the right side are two sets of 5-15R load segment outlets in two groups, four total. There is no single ‘best’ UPS battery technology; each approach has its own strengths and weaknesses, and it is up to each data centre operator to choose the one that best meets their requirements. The information below outlines the 3 main types of UPS batteries and their features. Lead-Acid UPS Battery Why are lead acid batteries used in UPS? With larger sets this can mean the installation of a sizeable battery within a server room or data centre and if the battery is lead acid, fire suppression should be a key consideration in a risk assessment. If thermal runway were experienced this could lead to fire in the room and the need to evacuate safely and suppress the fire. In addition to a fire suppression system, placing the UPS system and lithium battery set in a separate UPS room that can provide containment of any such and rare issue could help to further reduce the impact of such an event. UPS Battery RecyclingThe front of the device has two vented panels to get airflow to the battery on either side. The center of the battery has a five-button graphical rotating/tilting LCD screen that offers various information about the UPS, including the load status, events, measurements, and settings. Above the LCD are the status indicators: Online mode indicator (green), Battery mode indicator (orange), Bypass mode indicator (orange), and the Fault indicator (red). Below is the escape, up, down, enter, and on/off buttons to navigate the menus. Upon logging in to the network card management interface, the landing screen displays EMP readings, outlet status, energy flow charts, power readings, and active alarms. The left panel provides access to the other management features. At their end of useful life, recycling lithium-ion batteries is a major issue. For lead acid batteries there are multiple established recycling centres and companies. Ups to 90% of a lead acid battery can be reclaimed and recycled including the plastic case, lead terminals & plates, and hydrochloric acid. This is not the case for lithium-ion batteries.
