About this deal

At the end of the turn, the score was shaping up very much in favour of the Space Marines. Space Marines – 6, Necrons – 2. Turn 4 – Now or Never Citadel Miniatures: Two full kill teams of Veteran Guardsmen and Ork Kommandos form the heart of war zone Octarius, each featuring a wide array of customisation and alternate assembly options. Extra detail parts allow for deep personalisation of your kill team, with many models able to be assembled as multiple different kinds of operative. Each team also comes with a full transfer sheet with over 400 markings and emblems for customising your models. W – Wounds– As ever, these should just be called hit points. This is the number of points of damage the operator can take before they are ‘incapacitated’.

Up next is the Psychic Phase. Your magic-users of the far future blow each other (or themselves) up – or not, depending on range, psychic ability, and so on. Gallowdark scenery – mostly like the Into the Dark box, but with some added turrets and obstacles that the rulebook in the box has rules for.But the proof is in the pudding, so in keeping with the theme set in my Command Edition review, it was time for Roburte Guillethwaite’s Space Marines to once again face off against the Necrons of the Lizzekh Dynasty. Kill Team plays pretty similarly to 40K, but instead of units, you have individual soldiers. In its simplest form, you work through the following list each “round”… If you’ve somehow made it to this point in the review without seeing the price listed above, make sure you’re sitting down before reading on.

So, that’s five minis, a lot of paperwork, and all the dice, rulers and counters that have been replaced by 48 bits of nondescript Necron-themed scenery with daft names. Then there’s the all familiar Shooting Phase. Whoever’s turn it is blasts away at their enemy – as long as there isn’t a wall or cover between them. It’s since had several expansions, from rules supplements like 2018’s Commanders, to boxed sets containing exclusive models, most recently Kill Team: Pariah Nexus. Area Secured – at the end of the battle, score 1 Victory Point for each objective marker you control.

Kill Team: Octarius rules

Into the Dark had quite the assortment of scatter – this box mixes it up a bit. On the new sprue you will find: The Raven Guard include winged motifs, Lycaean studs, and corvia – remains of the ravens the warrior interred within would have hunted as part of their initiation to the XIX Legion. Alpha Legion Contemptor Torso Kill Team uses a form of alternating activations – in some phases, you’ll take it in turns to use each of your fighters, acting and reacting to transform every moment of the game into a tense battle of wits where a single mistake can be deadly.
